GTA:3 was by far the best improvement as it went to 3D, but vice city fixed all the stupid things in GTA:3

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the best by far.

BUT for playability, GTA:IV is the best because its physengine

GTA3, Vice City, and SA all kick ass, but SA is just bigger in scope and I like that.

GTA 3 FTW. Forever and always. It was the first in 3D, and the one single game they spent the most time working on the details on, considering the time it was released. Even SA doesn't have separated sirens for it's emergency vehicles. GTA 3 pwned hard on small shit like that. :)
