Malcolm, Skan, are your cars diesels? Basically you should tighten up the fuel line clamps in your engine bay as during the winter they get loose and may leak fuel which could cause that smell. It's also possible that your fuel rail is fudged etc. Make sure you address this issue immediately as it may cause an increased fuel bill, a loss in performance, a nasty smell and possibly suffocation due to carbon monoxide in the cabin.

Funny guy, Tiderman. I'll tell you what, old cars get you more attention from the female side than ANYTHING else. But I don't mean 80s cars, I mean properly old cars so from the 70s back.
