Ok so the first drift meet of this season of the EAF Street Runnerz Championship has just finished on a very rainy Starfish Island!
Despite the torrential downpour 8 drivers made it out to the event! The event was mostly attended by EAF members and the car of choice seemed to be the ever popular Infernus but there were some interesting exceptions!
The layout was the usual starfish layout and the drivers got to run a practise lap followed by three judged laps. Richardo judged the majority of the runs and Kessu judged Richardo's runs. Each run would be judged out of 10, only the best lap counts. If there is a draw then it goes to the second best scored lap.
(P.S The following won't be in the right order, i'm listing them in the order they are on my piece of paper before anyone makes any smart arse comments

)
First up to the line was Jellyfish representing the DNA clan, driving a turbocharged Sabre variant! This could have been a fantastic run but for some reason things just weren't working out for Jellyfish, he's runs only landing him scores of 1,0 and 4. This was his first time out though and he showed a lot of potential, hopefully we will be seeing more of him in the future!
Following Jellyfish was the first of our EAF drivers Brian in his Infernus. Brian put in fantastic laps but only managed to score on one run as sadly he made mistakes on his other two. The lap he finished was a exceptional earning him a score of 9. Hopefully luck favours him a little better in future events!
Then came Nylez, again from EAF and in a Infernus. Nylez also sadly only scored on one lap. Nylez did confess that he went into the first two laps hot headedly which caused him to make mistakes. He went into his third lap much calmer and ran a very commendable lap scoring him a 8.
Next up was Alarba in his Sentinel XS. I was sceptical about this at first, although the XS is front engined rear wheel drive I didn't think it would do that well as it is quite a heavy platform. Alarba piloted the car superbly though scoring himself a 7 and a 9 after a incident ruined his first lap.
Cerbero was next up from DC in a Infernus. Before his runs he did tell me that this was his first time in competition and that drifting wasn't really his strong suit. Unfortunately he wasn't just being modest and scored three zeroes. However I think he shows potential and I hope he gets some practise in! He maybe a driver to watch in the future.
Following Cerbero was EAF's Han in a standard Sabre. The Sabre has the potential to be a fantastic platform for drifting however the open differential, standard suspension and lack of power from the old carb fed small block V8 really didn't help and Han could not maintain much of a drift scoring him a 1,2 and 0
Richardo was next to run in his nimble Japanese sports coupe the Deluxo. His first run saw him buried nose first in a tree, it was nothing a few cable ties couldn't fix though! His second run scored him a six, clearly not that comfortable after the incident and his third run scored him a 9.
Last but certainly not least was EAF's Kessu in his yellow Infernus. Kessu didn't mess around with trying to get a feel for the track or car; he went straight out hitting every apex and making transitions look like a work of art! That run scored him the first ten of the event! The second run was as impressive but he did run off line and up a kerb which scored him a 9 but he learnt from his mistake and went straight back out and scored another 10 on his third lap! Kessu did put in an objection to the 10 saying that he hit a lamp post, however the judges didn't see that so the objection was over turned.
So to summarise the results look like this:
1st: Kessu 10 9 10
2nd: Alarba 0 7 9
3rd: Richardo 0 6 9
4th: Brian 0 9 0
5th Nylez 0 0 8
6th Jellyfish 1 0 4
7th Han 1 2 0
8th Cerbero 0 0 0
Congratulations Kessu for not only winning but being the only one to complete all three of his laps!
You may give yourself a pat on the back if you actually read all of that.
Thanks everyone that attended! Hopefully see you all at the next one! xoxo
