I will explain abt the dots :p

Yes, some indians(who practice hinduism)  do have the 'dots' on their forehead. Its a religious thing, its normally sandalwood paste that is used. And with regard to what Kitsune talks about, well yes, after marriage the hindu women do apply a deep red powder on their heads(right at the centre just above the forehead). Its a sign showing that they are married. The difference between the 2 'dots' is that one is more of a religious thing. The other is more of a symbol showing that they are married, nothing much to do with religion.
