Needing help from my Malaysian friends or anyone who knows the situation there

Hi,
Yes, this is a serious matter. I have an offer for employment in The Westin Langkawi & Spa Resorts, Malaysia, as a finance manager.  Everything seems good, I sent them my resume, they replied positively asking me to fill out an administrative form. Thing is, in the form, they have asked me to mention what my pay should be. Now this is really tricky. I have no RL friends/family in Malaysia and have no one to approach. I also do not want to over/underquote. I just need a fair enough paycheck, not too much, yet not too little, something which allows me to live a middle class lifestyle. Do any of you know what the pay package is in such places for the post I mentioned? Or do any of you know anyone who works in similar hotels in Malaysia and can get similar info for me.

Well thing is, I do not know how life is there, and how much living a normal life costs.
I hope you find someone here to help you, but mean while I could give you something to do.

How about you send them a letter, telling them in it to give you sometime to live a little life, like for about a month or two, so you could know how you can live there, then you would have no problem filling out the forum, and in knowing how much living a normal life costs.

The Westin is an international group. meaning they will offer good opportunities to grow if you can manage to perform well.
Regarding salaries it is hard to check from this side of the globe, it will depend also on the total job conditions. If you are living in a staff area of the resort with access to meals or if you have to pay your own way does make a difference.

Thanks. After using the link specified and some checks of my own through other websites, I have quoted a figure which I hope can be accepted. The important thing is, they have not mentioned whether the package comes with food and accomodation or not. If food and accomodation is not included the amount I quoted may not do at all. Keeping fingers crossed.
