So, I've been stuck with my same computer for what..4 years now? It was great back in the days, now it sucks.
I can't play normally any game that was relased after GTA:San Andreas.
It was fine in the beginning, now I'm getting paranoid.. Everyone's playing GTA IV and im stuck with the old stuff.
SO, I've been begging my parents for a new computer, but I think we wont be able to afford a good one...
I can get a cheap one, but I don't want a cheap one, I want one that will last at least good 4 years or so.
I already saved 200 euros but I think my parents wont go above 500 euros or so limit.
So I'm now wondering -  Is it better to get a PS3?
I want someone to tell me how the game experiences are in it and is it better than computer.
I personally hate game consoles, but I'm at the dead end...
Also I'm wondering can PS3 games get downloaded? There aren't much PS3 games to buy at my town.
Thanks in advance!

I like consoles more than computers when it comes to gaming and I like my PS3 more than my computer, so... PS3.

PC gets updated easily with both hardware and OS... PS3 does not.

PC will always be better in graphics, PS3 will not.

Maybe some titles are released on PS3 and not on PC, but that's not a problem.!

in a couple of years, people will see the PS3 as obselete, but my old laptop, would still play most games.

Get a decent computer, which is very easy to do.

Aim for an AMD Processor or the new i3 i5 etc for intel, they are set up better.

Get a desktop, look round, take your time, and do not just before Christmas, prices will have gone up.

Bit of advice, wait a bit, because as the new Windows 7 is still a recent release, prices of computers have gone up a bit. Let the price go down again, and you will be well set to acquiring a fantastic piece of kit.

Always remember, Consoles are outdated very quickly, my friends say I should get an XBOX or PS3, but I do not want to. PCs play practically all the games of the Consoles, and the games are proably about a half to a third of the price.

Well thank you. I have done marked off any consoles off my wishlist.
I dont need no Desktop or keyboard nor mouse, all I need now is a new processor.
I know I'm in money problem, but I don't want a cheap one that will soon be old shit, I want something that will last some time, so this is what I'm aiming at, tell me if it's any good and will it come out any cheap..

# Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz, 3M L2 Cache, 1066MHz front side bus)
# Operating System: Windows XP
# Memory: 2GB, DDR2-800 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
# Primary Storage: 160GB Hard Drive, 5400RPM
# Graphics: Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (or comparable)

Also tell me what parts can go cheaper if they are set to lower (eg. instead of 3GB RAM - 2GB RAM)
But have in mind that I want something that will last.
Oh, and, my brother can set it up, so I wont need to pay to computer store to do it...
So all in total...how expensive this would be?

For gaming, your graphic card simply sucks. Get new graphic card instead of new CPU. GPU matters more in gaming than CPU does..

You must understand that I'm not really aware of what I'm buying. I would really appreciate it if you could just edit my specs with the ones that are good, so I can give it to computer store.

Need better graphics card, do not reduce the RAM, For similar price to that processor you could get an AMD Turion or Athlon.

Look at this, i think its within your price range

nice computer there, will have another look around

# Processor: Intel Core i3 or i5    OR    AMD Turion x2   OR  if within budget anthing that says Quad on it ;)   you also want really at least 2mb Cache if preferable  ;)
# Operating System: Windows XP OR Windows 7   go with the cheapest ;)   vista is ok, but XP is my opinion better
# Memory: 3GB, DDR2
# Primary Storage: 160GB Hard Drive, 5400RPM   leave this the same, can always buy an external one too
# Graphics: Not too sure on this  maybe NVIDIA GeForce 9200   or similar

Also tell me what parts can go cheaper if they are set to lower (eg. instead of 3GB RAM - 2GB RAM)
But have in mind that I want something that will last.

Have edited this to the sort of spec you might be looking at. I am not an complete expert though, so dont just use me, check with other people.

But remember, Processor is vital, must get a decent one, are quite hard to change them.

Graphics card can be changed if you don't like it

You can also add more RAM extremely easily, so if you want a lower amount, no lower than 2gb i would suggest to start with, and see how you go  ;)

Imagine this

in a traditional processor there is only one line that data can travel along   ----------------------

This means that if the CPU wants to send something back along the line to the processor etc, it has to wait, theres a blockage

This is also the same with processors that have two cores, still only one line, then the processors are connected at the end, this also mean, only one core can be effectively used at one point. Rendering one core, not so good.

With the new Intel i3 i5 i7 i9 etc, along with all of the AMD Athlon x2 Turion x2  Phenom cores etc, use a newer system.

there are two lines from the processor to the Managey bit   -----------------------------------
                                                                                -----------------------------------

this means, data can be sent and recieved at the same time

also, for example, if this processor had two cores, each core has both of these routes, they would be connected together to each other like this, and both have their independent data transfers to the main data manging part, this means the processor is more efficient

some details may be a bit vague, I'm not entirely sure myself   lolz

If everyone downloaded their games, they would stop making them beceause they will not make any profit of them anyway.

See it this way: You make a entirely succesfull game. You put it on sale for $35. Your production costs are $100.

Even tough you're game is very popular amongst the people, only 2 persons buy your game legally. That makes you lose $30, even tough everyone in town has your game.

Will you keep making games if you're losing cash instead of making profit?
