IV:MP - Guides through installation, FPS increasing and error solving

In this topic I am going to show you step by step how to install the IV:MP client and run it. For all errors, problems, crashes and freezes, post in this topic so we can help each other and make it better for people to fix their errors. Topic will be updated every time a new client's been released.First of all make sure you have a GTA IV installed. Its a common sense part, because you need it. No piracy talk, or how to set the game up running if you downloaded it!


1) First, ensure you have a legal copy of GTA ( As said above, no piracy talk.You can play pirated or legal but you'll have to find out yourself how)
2) Second, here is the needed patch to start the game: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch.shtml  ( Patch name: 1.0.7.0 )

3) After you install it, go here: http://files.iv-multiplayer.co.uk/beta/downloads.php?f=IVMP-0.1-Beta%201-T4-R3.zip and download   "IVMP-0.1-Beta 1-T4 R3.zip"  ( Latest client )

4) The process of installation is very simple, run the executable from the unpacked ".rar" file and install to your directory( There will be your launcher)

5) here is the server IP, currently supporting 32 players.IP: 178.63.52.144:9999 (No password) ( Remember: If you get an error "Failed to connect to ...." it means the server is full! )
6) Run "LaunchIVMP.exe" file located in your GTA IV directory. it will execute the game and take you to an In game server browser.
7) PROTIP: You have to have the IP address "copied in your click" ( means that you need to copy the IP before entering the "LaunchIVMP.exe")
8) There is a tab below when you enter the game named "Quick Launch". Press it and then two fields will appear, just CTRL+V in the first one and press OK.

• FPS increasing tips

All errors, bad frame rates, stuck keys etc, I fixed by searching on Google. I had 6 FPS, now with some useful things and the 1.0.7.0 patch I have up to 45 FPS.
Here are some useful and interesting FPS increasing tips that also helped me:

its more of a small fix, a specific files defragment tool. just rearanges your space, adds better colors and extra FPS.
If you have around 12-17 FPS I don't suggest you to use it. its just for those who have really low performance.

You can defrag your GTA IV folder with basicly any defragment program. If it adds better colors how can it increase your fps? It should reduce it. Unless you mean that it turns your colors into 16 bit which would look like shit. And about the "Extra FPS". I hope its not something that reduces all your texture pixels to VERY low. That would also look like shit

If you don't like it, don't use it. It helped me.The wrong point/perspective is that people get disappointed very soon with these applications. One reason: Because they expect miracles. They should buy better PCs instead.

The game is awful as in bugged and poorly ported. AMD sucks and that's a fact.
People with AMD always moan around board about errors, and smoothness. People really expect miracles. Patch 1.0.7.0 just gave me a full potential of my PC, while people with slow PC think it can do same with theirs.

Void. 6 fps to 45 IS a miracle.. And saying AMD sucks is just bias... i bet a Phenom II 965 is just as good as your 650.. but 750 is a different story. 6 fps would be on a slow pc. So going from that to 45 with a few patches and stuff would be "people with slow pc expecting miracle"

Only performance. And its not like Intel always beats AMD. Its just NOW, since Intel is a generation ahead.

My pentium 4 had 10 fps on GTA IV straight after game install without any patches. And your i5 had 6. Yay

edit: I dont really understand why your mixing AMD into this while were talking about how your INTEL I5 650 only had 6 fps.

Applications like video encoding and offline 3D rendering show the real strengths of the Phenom II X6. And thanks to Turbo Core, you don't give up any performance in less threaded applications compared to a Phenom II X4. The 1090T can easily trump the Core i7 860 and the 1055T can do even better against the Core i5 750.

You start running into problems when you look at lightly threaded applications or mixed workloads that aren't always stressing all six cores. In these situations Intel's quad-core Lynnfield processors (Core i5 700 series and Core i7 800 series) are better buys. They give you better performance in these light or mixed workload scenarios, not to mention lower overall power consumption.

I also noticed on a previous topic Void, that you have 1x 4GB Ram? If you have one stick thats 4gb then switch to 2x 2gb. That would make your RAM dual channel and much faster..

The processor in your article has 6 cores. Not comparable.You have that processor?if the answer is no, then don't expect miracles.
My game had low FPS because of the game itself, not my configuration.That CPU would not go into category of low end PCs. AMD is far more expendable then Intel and consumes too much.

Besides that, nowadays AMD brings more performance for lower price than Intel, which is why it has increased its support from the past. About that article - if your target was to show that Intel pwns AMD, here's a tip: AMD is for consumers, Intel is for corporations - which is why they have the Xeon, while AMD doesn't.

The fight between AMD and Intel has been on for ten years, and it will go on for another ten years.
