tests show that AA can hurt fps on even the highest preforming cards i always have it off(especialy i First person shooters where a smooth running game is paramount)if you have a good card (we are talking high end 7 & 8 series ) x8 realy is the max id try x2 and x4 first ...

Your right about that... But dont forget GTA:SA Isnt the best game graphicly..  But you are right, 8x is a little high for anything below 7900 GTX Ill add that note

This stuff is alright compared to my mate linking 20 2.0ghz proceescors together to make a pc that set on fire lol.
overcloocking can be VERY dangerous, as at first hand i learnt that overclocking can lead to your cpu fan setting on fire and burning the inside of my pc
had to buy a new tower ut i learnt if your gunna over clock rember your defualt settings else your buggered

Antialising removes the jaggy edges of objects

Anisotroper increases the detail of distance objects

Try doing this, Make all the settings Application-Controlled and then turn Frame limitor OFF, And then make the Maximum Recording FPS for Fraps at 100
