Clean up your hard disk(s), replace your RAM with a bigger one

Clean up your hard disk(s), replace your RAM with a bigger one

Disk C(Windows installed here) has 30GB free, Disk E has 1.53GB and Disk D has 182GB :( Ram is 1.5GB, the highest possible for my computer.

well... formatting works best in these situations.. since there's probably left-overs from the last OS.

Well it happens that EVERYTHING was replaced with Windows 7, all items removed, Hard Disks merged, nothing from the old Hard Disks there, its like I bought a new computer with the same RAM, Space, Video Card etc.

Well... honestly I can't think of anything other than kind-of low RAM.

It SHOULD be faster than Vista or XP

Obviously the OS has be installed OVER the other rather than replacing it.

Wipe Clean, install Windows 7 fresh

Win7 uses up more memory to run than XP, and I mean loads.

For example, the game Command And Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight needs 1.0gb of RAM on XP to run, but 1.5gb for 7. (minimum specs btw)

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

The gameplay sucks compared to all of its predecessors. I love the graphics and the hologram-engraved box though.

Hi TheGreasyChopper,
Sounds to me like your mother did not set up some useful files correctly, these could be Drivers for Windows 7! Make sure that you have the right drivers for all your devices, especially graphics cards. Then adjust the settings to make sure that they are the right ones for you.
Being Windows 7, and that it can be a little diffecult when there is a new install. Be sure to run the rating (in system properties) checker. This will optimize windows 7 around your system. So if your mother has not ran it (I cant see that she would!) That might be an idea!
Of course as everyone else has suggested its always a good idea after you get everything back to the way you want it to run a defrag. I wouldnt recommend removing files if you dont need to remove them. Slow downs are usually caused by the wrong driver to speak and if it was working correctly before, there must some device not functioning optimally! Hopefully this little guide will get you up and running in no time!
Happy Gaming! Regards, [TCL]Dellstorm

When adding value gets you worse off than you were before, due to a hidden agenda against you, its time to quit. Then remember why you quit in the first place.

Obviously the OS has be installed OVER the other rather than replacing it.

Wipe Clean, install Windows 7 fresh

Depends on the Computer, if a computer has less than 2Gb of Ram, or less than about a Pentium D 2.8, then XP will run a hell of a lot better than Vista or 7. Software isn't everything, they need to work in unison.

When you do an OS upgrade, it does "Replace" the original operating system, but many drivers remain the same, and a lot of incompatible software may also cause problems. It is best to do a clean install.

Advice: Don't let anyone muck around with your computer. Set a Boot password (in the BIOS of most machines) so that she can't even get past the POST screen (where it checks ram, lists SATA/IDE devices etc.) to do anything.

Shaun
