What is considered flaming - Post your Definition!

So, I want to ask this to fellow members of the community - This goes to Admins, Players, new players, old players, owners, etc. Anyone who has ever played argonath. What is 'Flaming' on Argonath RPG Servers in your opinion?


I ask this question, Why? You could probably go to any forum topic and find out. I just want to know the community's opinion on what they consider flaming, because lately, the flaming levels on the forums have gone up dangerously lately, I can even see admins flaming players, admins flaming admins! Players flaming admins, other players, even as going as far as flaming the owners.... Its as if everyone's good side is vacationing in the Bahamas and leaving the bad sides to fend for their selves.

AVOID POSTING OFFTOPIC, AND OR POSTING NAMES WHEN USING EXAMPLES OF FLAMERS. - I do not want this topic to turn into a flame topic itself, If it goes to that, I will request a lock and try again another time. Don't even try to post someone's name when saying 'I saw xxx flaming against xxxx yesterday,' all your doing is provoking offtopic discussions and more fights.

  Also, I consider provoking to be anything said to incite or provoke flaming from another player or group.


  I do not consider people being rude or having a verbal stab at someones ingame character to be flame. E.g. "Ah crap it's a fat mexican!" would not be flame if they actually have a fat Mexican skin.

One other reason I added this... people are not sure what is a safe thing and not a safe thing to say. I have heard people say 'If you think it could offend someone, don't say it' - But how do you know if it would or not?

Sorry dude, but Im just expressing my opinion on what this topic is based on. Under no circumstances I did attempt to flame/provoke anyone/anything.

  People will not take you seriously if you are trying to be funny rather offensive.

  My cop RP character is a racist, discriminating and ignorant redneck. But he is a redneck, so he is dumb, clumsy, and sometimes drunk. And unexpectedly funny.

  It is all about balance. No one likes to be offended. But players wont complain if I offend their character, whilst also offending my own character. I will RP the stupid guy, just for fun. I will RP making mistakes, even if it means some criminal escapes.

  Basically, why would you want to purposely offend some one else's character? If your sole intent is to offend their character, of course they might take it as a personal attack! You need to make it clear. It is a game, keep it fun and light hearted.

JCS - I thought offending/insulting other players wasn't allowed even if it was IC - but apparently Argonath has no IC or OOC which means you can't insult players in any means...
So isn't that against the rules? (not that I care about IC and OOC insults and I know your RP style, so it's not a complain also)
