No. Aging socket - pointless. Invest in an i3 rig with a GTX460/ATI 5770 and you won't regret it.
Actually, buy a i7 rig with GTX570 ;)

act as a bad girl, get screwed as one.

Remember that it depends on your graphics card.If you have an older one,it might be that you have Shader 2.0 instead of 3,which is required for most of the games, released after 2008.And yes my PC had shader 2

Remember to fill the important holes first! :)

lol pretty much unless he is buying a 2nd hand graphics card from pre-2008 it wouldn't be an issue

Oh hi me. I thought, perhaps the fella was on a budget, that's why I suggest an I3 540 coupled with a decent cooler (not that it's a hot chip) and maybe even a GTX560 if you have the cash. Overclocking this system should give you high FPS in everything although you would need some decent RAM. I'd recommend Mushkin you take a peek at the Mushkin range. A 650watt PSU would be a pretty safe bet although a 550-600 would do as well (look for high quality ones such as Corsair). As far as cases are concerned if on a budget always take a look at Xigmatek and NZXT's range of cases.
