Looking at the Maslow's pyramid your dad satisfies all(most of) your wishes, so you, as an entity owe him something. Tho, you cannot explain it, you interpret it as love/connection. What would happen if your father ignored you but was with you, your whole life? Still, you'd have some sort of unexplained gratitude for his presence.
