You can't own a whole area of the map, this is for propertys and to show where you usually are, however you may not claim all of ELS.

Yes, there was, over on VC:MP.

Sure, I don't have link with criminals, which is why there is an application form. The only way this would end badly is if multiple people were claiming one area, if they dispute cannot be settled, I will simple give up on the idea.

However, if people apply to be on this map, it provides an easy way for new members to find were groups are in relation to this map, simplifying the process of finding new groups. It also allows comparison between the group to see how far away enemies are.

With any luck, this should become a useful tool, but if it becomes a place for arguments, and causes hassle, I will simply have the thread locked.

Then the use of this topic would be unnecessary for gangs across the map. Especially since gangs usually fights over territories and neighborhoods.
For the record, South Side Conecta decided to move back to East Los Santos and re-name us to 58th Street.
The name 58th Street comes from the most used street in East L.S, which we are basically claiming.
It would be reasonable to fight over the neighborhood, as it would give both groups a decent chance to show that it belongs to them.

I own group property ofcourse, but I sold it and made my OG own it to be safe.

A map is a lovely idea, I know that more than most since I tried the same thing a few years back (and made a royal fuckup of it). It does, however, have to be based on property, otherwise the shit hits the fan when it comes to claiming territory.

Good point, my idea is, they can claim the territory but if it becomes disputed both colors are placed or if to many issues are cause, both are removed.
