Is the RP really dead?: The answer

Greetings.
 
 You may have noticed players both ingame and on forum, saying that the RP is dead. By their reasoning, this is why the server has become devoid of RP and is also their alibi for spreading more of their negative ideologies, which have no benefit for the server.
 
 Just what caused them to come to that absurd conclusion? Is the RP really dead or are they merely bullshitting out of their own laziness? I for one believe in the latter, as the RP on this server is not dead. No, it is not. Argonath has always prided itself on being a community where imaginative RP thrives, and it still is. Unfortunately, certain players have lost their fun, and are trying to get other players to be like them.
 
 Lost in their negativity, such rogue players have, are, and will continue to use the aforementioned alibi as a means of spreading more negativity in the community. You must not believe them, as RP can easily be created by anyone who has even half an imagination. It's worked in the MTA:VC days, and continues to work to this day. Ignore their useless moans, and find yourself some good RP. Try RPing with a stranger even, and you never know, you may have just met your next good friend on Argonath.
 
 The RP in the server has always been alive and well, and you will find it if you are determined to RP. For instance, the crazy Sheriff of Fort Carson personified by Jcstodds. It does not require special skill or status to create fun RP such as that, but only a little imagination.
 
 Game or not, Argonath is still a community, not just a mere video game. The people you play with (except the moaners and trolls, who are useless to our community anyway) are just like you, looking for RP and fun. Take the time to RP with other people instead of waiting for others to start. I've said it before and I'll say it again; "Only YOU can bring more RP".

The role-play in game is alive and a lot more well developed than before.
Sure, there will always remain some round feet's within the community, but it's not hard to neglect and turn a deaf ear on them.

I will elucidate a little better later on when I got the time to do so.

I personally believe that RP is not dead. It's a certain amount of individuals that are actually all for to ruin the community. Thanks to them, we are having these issues. Recently, the owners of the server have taken actions against a certain few which means we are finally heading in a good direction.

I'll just leave a comment here to say that RP in Argonath is clearly not dead!
~1 week ago I bought my own taxi and have been in Argonath a driver till now. At first, it was really, but really, hard to get people to call a taxi, it still is, I must admit, but when people do they're, mostly, looking for role-play. It's also fairly notorious the amount of taxi drivers in the server, nowadays, and the number of people who do /taxi. Thanks to the administration for also giving a boost to this scripted job, by giving paydays to /drivers only.
In 1 hour, I always get at least 3 fares. If you divide 30 by 3 (the other 30 are the waiting time and driving time between fares), you'll be given 10 minutes of role-play to each customer. Think it's few time? Perhaps it is, but, and to be honest, I don't like myself to have a role-play that lasts for hours. I like to meet the new guys and also, curiously, to meet some veterans I never had the chance to and being a driver gives you that.

Now, JDC, you got a crucial point that has come into my mind, previously:

Unfortunately, certain players have lost their fun, and are trying to get other players to be like them.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, this is happening. Unfortunately because it may influence others, but fortunately, because we get to know who has a positive contribution to the server and who has a negative one.
It's up to us to just increase the role-play and ignore all of these folks that only bring negativity. The majority always wins.

I can only hope that the younger players can pick up the message before they are influenced by the Anti-Communitarians, and that the regulars would find themselves enlightened on the situation.

The people that complain about the current state of roleplay on the server are the ones that come here looking for something more serious than /me is an alien /me goes lolololo.
My experience in the past week has been that people are a lot more likely to shoot you than even attempt to come up with something their character'd say. The only time I've seen people properly roleplaying is during a traffic stop when I do absolutely everything for them since they only have to reply with 'sry i wont sped anymore here my lisens'.

Despite my current experience, I've not actually had any contact with groups that appear to be extremely decent at pleasing roleplayers that are looking to escape their boring everyday lives and become a tough gangster and simply have some fun while remaining in character (I believe Que is leading one such a group, I'm not sure though).

The roleplay on the cops' side is dead. Literally dead. I still remember James' old SWAT squad where he insisted that we actually roleplayed something other than a bunch of tactical DMers once in a while. Again, the only roleplay I've seen is at either a traffic stop or the processing room and, of course, some extremely good roleplay from some LSPD members.

Argonath still has a certain charm though, and it's fun when you're not in a serious mindset - after all, there are servers that ban people for loling around and if you can't handle anything different you shouldn't barge into Argonath claiming that the RP here is utter shit.
Personally, I ignore people like Curse & DPD members and it has worked for me thus far.

As I promised, I'll elucidate a little bit further.

After being a player on this server for basically three years, a little more actually; I've concluded that this server is my home. I've been one of these players, simply playing on a famous RLRP server, been unilateral, been contradictory to the main chat, blips on the radar and etcetera. But when the time's gone, and I've grown older and reached far more maturity than ever before. My attitude towards the community and its features has changed rapidly.

I was one of these players complaining about the "lame role-play", "the retarded players and scripts". Nowadays, I actually got nothing to complain about. The server hasn't changed that much so I would just change my prospective standpoint to something enormously opposite. It has to do with yourself and your own disposition. If your mindset's negative, your own attitude towards other community members whose role-play preference's not like yours will be interpreted as unnecessary and extremely slanderous. Instead of having this negative and slanderous attitude towards people, focus on what's good and what you can make even more prominent as you define it is already. That's the spirit if you want to succeed with a group, your accomplished role-play or whatsoever.

RP isnt dead on Argonath, theres always goona be those kids who try to take away fun from other players, but theres also still players that fully use Roleplaying rules. Even though Argonath does not completely abide by the rules of Roleplay, I believe that it certainly isnt dead.

As a (mostly criminal sided) player on the server,  I think there is a right to defend a cop(s) for not roleplay-ing or not roleplaying properly. What is to blame? the criminals. If your a cop in a chase with a criminal, and in some cases even just at a traffic stop. Is a person more likely to roleplay with you, or to run away or assault you? There are many reasons a criminal may do this though, and one reason is cops.

See what I'm getting to? Both sides are at fault because both sides have some extreme methods that mostly are attacking or forceful roleplay. Why Roleplay when you can eliminate the problem is the mindset of many players. The problem is not one side or the other, its the server. Not saying the whole server is bad.

Thats just my opinion, maybe you agree.
