you probably just met the person who knows how to handle him...
i tried playing him as well, and i can tell you; he's hard as f**k to play. you'll need lots of patience and timing in order to play him correctly...

No champion is hard to play as long as you studied him before you play him. Watch a streamer/yt video about him, see what he can do and how to handle him in action, look up a proper build (not mobafire sheet)
Singed is a tank, so you build him tankish, depending on who you are against, you can also build some spell vamp, I mostly do so.
So, you build tank, lots of HP and spell vamp, you run through a minion wave/champ wave and you get full HP again. Your W has a big range, so you can throw it infront of people, run to them and E them while your team finishes them off.

I play great as assasin, same for singed. Love both of them, but you are right. Both have a quit diffrent play style, but I find this only early game.
Late game with Singed you can play really agro, run in. W and pull and just poison.
It just depends on your own preferences

Singed was one of my favorite champs when I used to play, funny how no one actually played him because "he's weak" or something. The point is to bait other players by going into them with low health or recalling (yea lol they want to interrupt u) tho you need some nice hp regen and armor.
