In the last days suddenly my PC started to lag without any warnings I tried everything to fix it and I finally could fix it but I didn't know that I fixed it for temporarily time anyway I just restarted my PC and error appeared about my disk the system asks me to call the technical support to determine If I need to repair the hard disk or to exchange it with another one..

Quote
Instructions For Fixing Hard Disk Errors:

We strongly recommend that you backup your computer to avoid potential data loss.

After you have backed up your computer, you should contact your computer manufacturer or other hardware technical support to determine if the disk with errors needs to be repaired or replaced.

We recommend that you store these printed instructions together with the media used to back up your data (for example, the CDs or USB flash drive used to store your backup), so that everything you need to fix your computer is in one place.

The following information is provided to help the hardware technical support person diagnose the hard disk with errors.

Disk Name: WDC WD3200AAJS-00L7A0 ATA Device
Volume: C:\;D:\

Now I am looking for a new hard disk and I do not know anything about hard disks. So right now I am thinking of 1tb (1028 GB) and the rest up to you guys.

Is it true that the hard disk has a good or bad effect on the computer speed? It depends on the hard disk of course. If yes then please recommend a good hard disk because I'm going to run most of the new video games and I bet that you know the requirements of the new generation of video games.

Thank you...

1TB - 1024GB

The speed(7200 RPM for example) shows, how fast the data can be read/written. The more RPM's it has, the data speed is more faster, but it also heats up more, uses more power and makes more noise.

So when buying, check the RPM's, how much power it consumes.

Thanks mate.. Now I know what is RPM :P

Anyway what's the lowest, average and the highest speed? and which is better for the new video games?

Another question.. sometimes it gets really hot here in my country so do you think that it can work in 30-50 temperature? Well it isn't going to be 50 of course but it's just a random number.

The lowest, that I have seen, is 4200RPM, highest 15000 RPM.
Most hard drives are around 7200-10000 RPM, and these should fit new games.

About temperature....if it gets too hot, clean from dust and fit your PC into fridgerator.
Nah, just get better cooling system.

Check the look of them.
Or you could try buying a better case for your PC.

No HDD coolers are really necessary, they are just fine even at 50'C and it's not the heat that breaks them, it's the sudden changes in temperature.

Solid State Hard Drives

Advantages:
Basically big Memory Sticks
No Moving Parts (Longer Life)
A lot faster than standard Disk Drives

Disadvantages:
Generally pay a lot more for a lot less storage

Standard 7200RPM Drives

Advantages:
Cheap and Readily available
As they are standard, all games should run on them

Disadvantages:
Not as fast as Solid State or higher RPM Drives
Moving Parts

10,000RPM+ Drives

Advantages:
Faster than standard 7200RPM Drives
Should not be TOO expensive

Disadvantages:
Moving parts

5400RPM Drives

Advantages:
Use Less power than 7200RPM drives etc
Generally Last Longer as they are spinning slowe

Disadvantages:
Slower than the other drives
Generally less available

Please note that 5400RPM drives are often used as 'System Drives,' ie, just for installing the system to it, not used a lot.

sounds to me like your HDD is corrupted, you do not need cooling for it or any BS like that, buy a new HDD, they are only like $100 here in Australia for a 1TB Caviar Black

If your going to get a new Hard drive, that would be the best option

Compared to Solid State:
with HDD you pay 10 cents per GB
and with SSD your paying between $1-$5 per GB
with HDD you get a 1millisecond response time
with SSD you get under 1 millisecond response time   (would you really notice anything under a second anyway????)
