That is just a "star" they are a part of your forum rank, so it would require multiple different forum groups for each clan.

If you visit the official SMF forums, you will also say that all staff have them.

But as for the original idea, it's not possible, with any package as far as I know. The only way to do it would be they was I mentioned above, with custom forum groups for each clan/group.

With custom groups, it does allow group moderators so the moderators of each group can assign and kick people from the groups, this would allow custom "stars" but as to weather it would happen or not, it would be down to Ron and Ronnel.

Sounds like an interesting concept and would certainly have its uses. I am, however, unsure if such addition would benefit - in fact it would reduce performance (additional PHP and SQL code, additional HTTP requests for the images - all of these slow down the server), along with the lists being stale over the course of time, should they lack updates; of course, there's also the effect of group-hoppers, which would add even more workload to the forum moderation team.

Like said above you can use personal text or custom title, more mods, more lag and creates complications.
