I've been getting a few reports of "scamming" with addcarbid recently. With the latest revision of the scripts, you have to approve a transaction before ownership is transferred, and it warns you to make sure you get the money first. Despite this, I'm still getting some occasional complaints.
If you approve the transaction prematurely, you are responsible.It's basically signing legal papers for a car registration transfer saying "You're not paying me, but I'll give you complete and total ownership of my car." If you make a deal with another player to pay the money over time,
use F8 to get pictures of chat. If you do get scammed, you can then take it to court. In other cases, the administration isn't obligated to give you your car back, but it may depend on the situation you're in.
In any case:
- If you sell your car to someone, get pictures of the conversation so that you have evidence for a court case if you need to start one.
- Make sure you receive the money in full before you hand your car keys over.
- Make sure you trust the person you're selling the car to.
In which case, you can start a civil lawsuit in the
VC:MP Courthouse.
