Basicly - When one person sees music video and think *Gay song*, then others start to follow him because they too think it sucks. And some people start following them because they think they'd be cool to do it, not because they don't like the song.

If you dont like comments or reactions, ignore it. The only way for you to help people who trolls in youtube comments is to react on it, once they get negative reactions they win.

As for Bieber and Rebecca Black, i personaly hate their trash music, i'm pretty sure they hate my Thrash music aswell.
Alot of people makes fun of Bieber and Rebecca, because they get known for a silly song over youtube, its just how the world is.

I hate that, they hate this. Personally i prefer Classical music and Heavy/Thrash Metal before Hip-Hop and Rap.

And for your info, i dont post any comments on youtube, i spend my time watching videos instead of worrying about comments.

Its about the stream of the masses. Why is Youtube popular? Advertising? Content?
Content on Youtube is various. Keeps the simple simpler and interesting even more interesting.
Advertisements pay for it.

If you want to start a small video hosting website and want it to be successful (regular visitors, many active accounts/Posts et cetera), you have to adapt to the masses.
Because the masses are those who keep the site alive.
