Hey guys.

I'm thinking about buying a new computer and is looking into some choices. I already checked out some stuff which i like, but i'm not quite sure yet about it and want to know what people which knows more about computers then me thinks:

The speccs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500, / 3.3GHz x4 6MB
Motherboard: H67M Socket 1155, H67, mATX B3
RAM: DDR3 8GB (4x2GB) 1333MHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 550Ti 1GB GDDR5
HDD: 1.0TB 7200RPM SATA II 3.5" 32MB
PSU: 630W
DVD Recorder 22x +R / +RW -R / -RW Sata Black
Antec ThreeHundred Cabinett

All this will cost me somewhere around 832 Euro. Just an ote, if i buy this, i will not build it myself, hence there is a extra cost.

Is it worth it?

Well, not sure how it is for you, but I'll write down some stuff from the receipt of mine...

AMD AthlonII AM3 x4 quad (645)
22 inch monitor (AOC, HD definition)
Asrock N68CS AM3 Motherboard
Foxconn mATX casse
Gainward GTS 450 (nVidia card, modded) 1024mb
DDR3 4GB RAM
DVD-RW Drive (SATA)
1TB 3.5 inch SATA HD Drive
750 Watt PSU

Mine, total, was 487.58 GBP, including VAT at 20percent. Thats about 556.82 euros.
Maybe where you are is more expensive, but my computer looks pretty similar, plus extra stuff (monitor, and graphics card), and is nearly 300 euros less...
Take into account that intel is more expensive than AMD for some stuff, so you could save money if you got:
CPU: AMD AthlonII 640 (the 645 is a lightly overclocked version)
Motherboard like mine, though i saved about 20GBP on it...

I wouldn't say it was a good deal, but I don't know how prices are for you at the moment...I hope this helps.

In regard of the AMD vs Intel you wrote about, i have no idea how AMD processors are behaving and the power in them anymore so that's why i'm going for a i5 processor.

When converting swedish krona to Euro, it sounds more expensive then it is in swedish kronor tbh.. Must been Euro that has become stronger lately or so. The price in krona is 7620 which is not that expensive for a computer i belive.

It's worth it, but where are you buying it from?

I'm buying it from a local computer store which will build it for me.

Your GPU and Motherboard are discussable but deffinately stick with nVidia and the i5 2500k.. I don't understand why people would buy anything else apart from the 2500k in this year.. It's just the best way to go for not that much money :P

About the GPU i agree with you Salmonella. Been doing some researches on it, and it looks like it's shit. I'm gonna check into what other alternatives i have.

The new intel and AMD CPU's do not differ massively...in times gone by, AMD was much better because of the way information was moved around, but intel now do the same.
You'll get more "bang for your buck" with AMD, and to give you some idea, NVidia is owned by AMD (if my information is correct).
Mine is running well. :)

No, Ati is owned by AMD. Nvidia and Intel work separately.

Between thought and expression lies a lifetime.

I have actually been thinking about this and decided to go full out so i dont need to upgrade the computer anytime soon.

My new plan are to go with a Intel core i7 2600 3.4GHz and a Geforce GTX 580 1535 MB DDR5.

Worth it?

Uh Uh, the i7 has Hyperthreading enabled, the i5 doesn't.
