Project 1.94 - 2.0's easier alternative

Since 2.0 will be delayed more than we have expected, I came up with an idea.
I'd like to ask aXXo and others, would it be possible to:

  • Implement some of Beta version features into the old (current) script. Business system could be an example,
  • Re-map the vehicles' spawn points and edit their models/colours,
  • Completely reset the goods and statistics.

In overall, it's about to refresh the 1.93 so it would be still playable, and what's more - demanding. I just point a few ways to make it happen; feel free to post your ideas about reviving the on-going script.

The majority of 2.0's features have already been scripted, and cannot be done in Pawn without using outrageous amounts of memory, and would thus slow the server down even more. I estimate this would take even longer to accomplish than to move 2.0 onto the main server.

I will admit I considered doing this for 1.9x, but it's not practical.

I agree, let's increase the playability factor by changing 1.9 (adding new scripts and such) and after it's done, let aXXo work slowly on finishing 2.0

my ideas:
after 1.94 is done, restart everything

increase ammunation shop price to 1,5 million for every shop
make ammunation shops sell everything except for boon (that will be buyable from phills) and melee weps

make phill cost 3 millions
make it sell nades, molotovs, rocket launcher, flamethrower, spaz, m60, and any other boon weps

make sure SSA sells less but better cars, whereas roxor sells more but shittier cars...ex: SSA sells infernuses&sentinel XS'es, roxor sells sentinels and sabres... (make sure all 'tuning' cars are sold by SSA)

make the smuggle timer a hour instead of 30 mins, but increase prizes by 1.5x (3500 for 2 people smuggling)

add a command to share car/house (2 players could spawnprop and lock same car/house) however 1 player can only share 1 house/car

bankrob: the cop's objective should be to disarm the bomb (/c disarmbomb) before it blows up. They'd need to stand near the vault (not moving by even a centimeter) and type the command (only 1 cop can disarm it at time) before it blows up. If they defuse it, cops win even if the robber ain't dead...incase they won't disarm the bomb before it blows up, everything is normal, they can still chase down the robber

incase robber is killed by a civilian/suspect, the suspect/civilian takes over his wanted level, heat, and money. This is because you can see whenever there's a bankrob, 10 guys rage to buy a spaz and help the robber...know bankrobs will need to be organised and robbers will need to watch their backs 24/7

ex:
[EAF]Klaus is killed by guy1, while theres 250 secs remaining for bomb to blow
guy1 takes over his wanted level and gets the cash when bomb blows, theres an annoucment on the chat

or
[EAF]Klaus gets out of the bank with cash
guy1 kills him
guy1 takes over his wanted level, heat, cash, and theres an annoucment on the chat.


also, you can only hold 3 units of each food, however if you buy any food while having more than 1, it goes into the property you own. If you don't own property, it will say 'you dont have a place to store this food'

I think that would defeat the purpose of having organized bankrobs.

backwards, actually.

if there is a group of 5 organised guys robbing a bank, they have to shoot any non-authorised 'helpers'... in order to make sure their leader doesnt get backstabbed

it's chaos if nobody is planning to rob and it's enabled, yes...everyone would start killing themselfs :D but that's the whole point, only groups (not clans/gangs, i mean 2-3 organised players for example) would rob the bank without chaos

A re-release of 1.93 with the added extras mentioned would be nice. Don't forget the new drug script though, as that was pretty neat.

Consider this: we're almost to 2.0. To have to rescript the key features into 1.9x will only delay it further for no reason aside from nostalgia, especially considering there's only one scripter.

All of this is a big "why?" to me. If 2.0 were months away, I'd understand, but it's on the verge of release, just finishing up minor bugs and issues here and there. Why even bother with this? Half of it isn't even possible, and would only slow down 2.0 itself further. This is not something to be doing when 2.0 is so close.

This idea makes sense to me because near enough everything we have at the moment on 1.93 works, so why change it? A complete new script wasn't totally necessary. aXXo wanted to rewrite the script in Squirrel to play around with the possibilities, but a lot of those have been scrapped so now he's having second thoughts on it. In the end, its up to aXXo on what he wants to do.. but it is also on what the community want.

Well to continue to be a world of it's own, Argo must also adapt and continue to spread new and creative ideas for more unique and open roleplays. Essentially this rewrite and change builds upon that. 1.93 may be perfect in it's own way, but it's still highly limited for users in other various areas.

Personally, I think if we try and re-write features and continue expanding on 1.93, we would just delay future possibilities.

We would not want to work backwards.
