England played horrible first half.

First game under Roy, with basically a completely new shape to the team - I for one wasn't expecting us to come out and play superb flowing football right from the bat; it's going to take some time for this team to jel together. However, we're one nil up, so we're doing okay.  :)

I mean, Yeah I'm glad their One nil up but their possession and the way they play is not how i expected. For me, Norway is playing way better.

Overall the game was terrible and oh so boring. Carroll was, as expected, useless... just stood up their and provided nothing productive the entire game except for that chance he wasted towards the beginning. Parker was good, but he only played for a short while. Even Gerrard was unusually sloppy with his passing and touches tonight. Something good to take from that game however was Chamberlain's brief but exciting performance; from the moment he came on he looked calm and controlled on the ball, and almost scored from his first play with Walcott.

Things certainly need to improve, no doubt about it, but it's early days. I'm sure we'll gradually get better - just hope sufficient improvements are made in time for the Euros, 'cause if we play like that against the likes of Spain, we'll get absolutely smashed.

Using Carroll in the England's team is an idiotic move.

I'm not a huge fan of Carroll, but at the moment we're not really presented with a lot of choice when it comes to up-front. Rooney's out for the first two games, Bent is injured and ruled out, and other strikers like Sturridge, who I thought at the start of the year was a shoe in for a place in the team, have failed to impress as of late. The funny thing is that Carroll has played his best football at Liverpool towards the end of the season, which is why he was chosen. I would of took Crouch over him personally, but I think Hodgson wanted a more physical player to hold the ball up - basically launch the ball to him, and then spring an attack. A style of play which I pretty much despise and find so boring to watch.

Chamberline was the star of the under 21 England team, lets hope he does well here well.

Yea but Walcott is more a winger than a central...I dont think we can talk about both of em at once.

Walcott has stated on more that one occasion that for Arsenal he'd like to play up front. But let's face it, apart from his immense pace, Walcott hasn't got much else going for him. His touch is inconsistent, and he never challenges defenders; always either gets tackled or passes it away.

Chamberlain is a winger aswell

Yes but Chamberlain can play in a central midfield position as well, as he has done for Arsenal and I believe the England U21s.

Why not Defoe or Bent then ?

Bent is ruled out with an injury. Defoe on the other hand I probably would of gone with over Carroll.
