Welcome to this Police Help topicThe aim of this topic is to give you help and useful information on what is generally required to be a good police officer for Argonath RPG. Hopefully you will learn a lot from this topic and put these tips into Action.
Before we continue...The various law enforcement agencies this topic applies to are:
CSPD/DPD = Countryside Police Department/Dillimore Police Department
LSPD = Los Santos Police Department
LVPD = Las Venturas Police Department
SFPD = San Fierro Police DepartmentThese agencies will merge into the one category, 'Police Departments', therefore all information under the 'Police Department' title applies to CSPD,LSPD,LVPD, and SFPD.Police DepartmentsThe Basic RulesAll police departments have rules which all officers must abide by. Each individual department may have different rules. Failure to follow rules can result in fines or suspensions. In this case, failure to follow the basic rules frankly means your a bad cop. The basic rules are:
- Act sensibly and as a role model to citizens (dont give a bad example to citizens)
- Have a valid reason for suspecting an individual
- Do not wield a weapon at anyone unless they are attacking you or they have a known record for assault (For example: a murderer)
- Do not attack or murder an innocent/wanted individual without a valid reason or explanation for doing so
- Do not attack or murder a fellow officer, even if you were provoked or felt you had a reason for doing so
- Do not exit your department jurisdiction. (If you are LSPD dont leave LS, even if you are in pursuit)
Basic CommandsHere are the basic commands you should know before you go out and patrol as a cop. The command template is in green, and an example for the command is in red.
/l <your text here> = To speak locally (only players nearby can hear you)
/l hello/s <your text here> = To shout at someone (basically same as /l)
/s stop/r <your text here> = Police Radio (appears as blue)
/r This is Unit 31, im on it/d <your text here> = Dispatch radio (appears as red)
/d We have a domestic disturbance at GantonFor both these radio commands ',over' appears at the end of your text, and your Unit number appears beside your name.
/mdc <id> = Mobile Data Computer (use this in a police car to see the ids name, crime and reporter)
/mdc 12/su <id> <reason> = Suspecting an individual (Have a valid reason for reporting)/su 12 Assualt on police officer/jail <id> <time between 30-120> = Jailing a suspect (must be in a police station with suspect)/jail 12 60/m <text>= Megaphone (Use this in a police car or on foot to speak through megaphone)
/m This is the LSPD Surrender NOW/registration <id>= Checks if player has Passport and Driving license
/registration 12/getarrest= Animation which can be used when a suspect has surrendered with handsup
Radio usageUse the radio for professional reasons only. Call fellow officers by unit numbers and try not to swear. Do not use it for irrelevant chat, and qoute your Department and unit number on it as soon as you go on duty.
Starting off as a copYou should do this, in order, as soon as you spawn as a cop:
1)Go into the station to see if any missions etc are ongoing at the time.
2)Find another cop to partner up with (it is vital cops go in pairs for their protection)
3)Look for a police vehicle in the station carpark. If you cannot find a car then either:
- Go on foot patrol
- Do jobs around the station ,like dispatch or receptionist for visitors
4)Radio
(/r <text)to the other cops explaining you are on duty and what your currently doing
Patrolling on footIf you are on foot patrol with a partner, your safety is essential. Before you start off on foot patrol:
- Get full health and armour (Buy armour from Ammunation, Health from Fast Food outlets)
- Make sure you have a good amount of ammunition and know the command to radio
When you are on foot patrol it is important to follow the following rules:
1)Unequip all weapons, holding a weapon shows aggression
2)Notify fellow officers of your location through the radio every few minutes
(/r <text)3)Notify fellow officers of suspicious activity through the radio
(/r <text)Patrolling in a carBefore starting your patrol in a car, make sure you and your partner know the following rule:
- The driver drives the car without using the radio for his and his partners own safety
- The passenger is in the front seat and uses the radio to update fellow officers of any activity (/r <text)
After starting off, it is important to abide the following rules:
Driver:1)Always drive on the right hand side of the road
2)Always stop at junctions and keep your speed to a safe level
3)Keep your sirens off unless you are attending a crime scene or are in pursuit.
3)
Do not mount the footpath, this will endanger lives.
Passenger:1)Use the radio to update fellow officers of any suspicious activities you see
(/r <text)2)Every 2 minutes, update fellow officers of your position
(/r <text)Suspecting/Fining an individualThese are valid suspecting reasons. Remember that one of the basic rules is to give a valid reason for suspecting. Valid reasons and corresponding jail times are:
- Assault (45 seconds)
- Assault on officer (60 seconds)
- ADW (Assualt with Deadly Weapon) (60 seconds)
- ADW on officer (100 seconds)
- First Degree Murder (Direct killing with a gun or melee weapon) (100 seconds)
- Hit and Run (hitting a pedestrian in a car and then fleeing the scene) (30 seconds)
- Attempted Murder (violent attack on individual with low health as a result) (30 seconds)
- Assisting Known Felon (a citizen helping a wanted person)(30 seconds)
- Robbery/Theft (45 seconds)
- Conspiracy to Murder (thinking a citizen is going to murder someone. They could be carrying weapons etc) (30 seconds)
Fining is less serious than suspecting someone, usually for minor offences.Valid reasons to fine an individual and the typical prices are below:
- No driving license or passport = $100
- Reckless Driving = $100
- Verbal abuse = $150
- Possession of illegal firearm = $200
Pursing a suspect on footIf you are pursuing a suspect on foot it is important to follow the following rules:
Suspect is Unarmed1)Give the suspect at least 2 chances to surrender by telling them to surrender.
2)Use your nightstick, do not use a gun on an unarmed suspect unless he is still in a car
3)Tell him to put his handsup if he surrenders, and then use /getarrested command and wield your desert eagle, you cant shoot your gun using this animation
4)Radio fellow officers telling them you have got the suspect in custody, notifying them that the arrest is yours
(/r <text)Suspect is Armed1)Take as much cover as you can to protect yourself
2)Give the suspect one chance to surrender by telling them to surrender
3)From behind cover, radio fellow officers of your location and that you are facing an armed suspect
(/r <text)4)If the suspect doesnt surrender after your first warning, then radio fellow officers notifying them that you are gonna shoot him
(/r <text)Suspect is in a car1)Stay on the footpath or to the side of the road for your safety
2)Aim for the car tyres
3)If the car stops, run over to the driver side and point a gun in the door. Then tell them to surrender and come out with their hands up
Pursing a suspect in a carIt is important to remember the following when in high speed pursuit:
Driver:1)Put sirens on when you can see the driver of the cars tag, but turn it off when the drivers tag disappears
2)Keep a safe distance behind the car your chasing, sudden stops and lag can lead to crashes
3)When they are turning, use this opportunity to ram them from the side and immobilise them (this is called the PIT manoeuvre aim for the back door of the car your chasing to spin it out)
4)When the suspects car stops, stay in the car, it may move off again. Only if you are sure that suspect wont move off again you may leave the car
Passenger:1)Firstly, use the radio to tell fellow officers the name of the individual you are chasing, what car they are driving, what colour it is etc
(/r <text)2)Secondly, when entering a new area on the map, notify through radio what area you are currently in and what direction the chase is going.
(/r <text)3)Try and anticipate where the chase is going. Then you can radio for help by requesting a roadblock further down the road
(/r <text)4)When you can see the drivers name tag, use the megaphone to tell them to pull over with their hands up
(/m <text)5)When the suspects car stops, get out, try and leave your door open, and aim at the car saying surrender. If it moves off again, aim for the tyres.
6)If they surrender, ensure they sit in the back seats of the car
Jailing a suspectHopefully, you will jail people alot. Here is what you should do when jailing someone:
1)Make sure you and the suspect is in the station
2)Look at the suspects crime to gvie them an appropriate time
3)Type /jail <suspects id> <time between 30-120> to jail the suspect
4)Use the radio to tell fellow officers that you arrested a suspect
5)Stay in the station until the suspect is released
Extra Police positionsTired of being a common officer? Want to try something new? Well ive invented a few positions which are VERY underestimated and should be used at all times.
DispatchVastly unused, Dispatch is a very underestimated police position.
General informationA dispatcher has a very important role in the police force. Not only do they control and designate missions to officers on patrol, they can also act as receptionists for visitors at the main desk and as guards in the cell blocks.
Job rules1)Control radio communications with /d command
2)Designate tasks to officers on patrol (give a specific unit a task such as 'patrol around LS stadium')
3)Welcome and answer questions from visitors at the main desk
4)Guard the cell blocks
5)Keep general care of the station facilities and offices.
Aerial SupportAerial Support is vital for high speed pursuits, searches, and vast area coverage, giving officers on the ground vital information.
General InformationThe job of Aerial Support is to aid police searches, keep track of high speed pursuits and get a birds eye view of big events, while reporting to ground units various pieces of information which could be invaluable.
Job rules1)Each Aerial Support unit must consist of a pilot and co-pilot
2)The co-pilot must use the radio to update ground units of any progress
3)They must respond to vital crime incidents
4)They have the ability to cross borders into different cities.
Internal AffairsThese are the guys who look for corrupt cops
