Some nember's idelogy: Get rich or die trying.

This is one of the major problems we have in Argonath these days, I'm not sure what motivates the new players to join for the money, and necessarily being part of a family.

Here is an example from F.T.P_OutLaW:

Robert_DiMaria: hey
(19:19:33) F.T.P_OutLaW: hey
(19:19:50) Robert_DiMaria: You're a member of Argonath?
(19:19:58) F.T.P_OutLaW: ye and u?
(19:20:11) Robert_DiMaria: Yes, since 2009
(19:20:34) F.T.P_OutLaW: what family are u in?
(19:20:53) Robert_DiMaria: None
(19:20:59) F.T.P_OutLaW: why?
(19:21:02) Robert_DiMaria: I'm just a normal citizen
(19:21:16) Robert_DiMaria: Lol Argonath isn't just gang and families
(19:21:25) Robert_DiMaria: I was an SAPD Officer but I retired
(19:21:43) F.T.P_OutLaW: thats how u make the big money
(19:22:04) Robert_DiMaria: Argonath isn't money, it's having fun and friendship
(19:22:48) F.T.P_OutLaW: ye but so many gangs always want to fuck u up

You can conclude the ideology of the majority (not all) of new players by reading the conversation above. In your opinion, how can we stop this? What movitates the new player to think of this? Is it our fault? If not, who's fault is this?

Open for discussion, I want my topic arguments free please.

I started out with a crime family also and rose in ranks and eventually dropped the illegal life for the legal one. I see nothing wrong with members joining families in order to do stuff. For example, when I joined, I wanted to make $1,000,000. I made my first $100,000 within a few weeks by the help of a few members (especially Jonny_Gvardia). I made my first million within six months. Once you hit that point, you realize that money isn't important. Everyone sets a goal, once you hit that goal, you try something else. For example, once I made $10,000,000, I gave it away and started working to become an administrator and a helpful player, 9 months later, I am an administrator! :D It's all about setting goals and what you are trying to accomplish on Argonath.

Let's compare him with you: You said there is nothing wrong with joining families, and he said it is NECESSARY to join a family.

The two things you take issue with are two of the biggest motivators for anyone to do anything, financial stability and a sense of belonging. Instead of trying to apportion blame it is better to accept that these two qualities are inherent to human nature and consider ways to nurture them in a positive way.

I know I wanted to get rich when I first joined Argonath...I haven't got there yet  ;)
I'm happy how I am though...you just need to let them find their place.

Basically bothered because players want to join a group to learn the ways of Argonath.

E na parede do meu quarto / Ainda está o seu retrato
Eu quero ver pra não lembrar / Pensei até em me mudar / Lugar qualquer que não exista / O pensamento em você

It's been almost three years and I haven't set the milestone record of having $1,000,000. Because I always spend my money by hosting events and such.
Still going for that achievement. My next goal? Conquer Las Venturas :<

Guy wants to make friends and earn some cash while doing it, why bother him about it?

It is just a few people who think money can do every thing. But when they finally earn some thing, they'll realize that money isn't every thing.

he is making a good move if you ask me... "the closer we are to danger, the further we are from harm."  - Pippin, Lord of the Rings

its true, gangs do like to shoot people jus cause they aint in their gang... which makes no sense because most the time those people aren't in any gang/group :\

It is not nessecary to join a Gang, Clan or Crime Family (Mafia) if your a New Player. You can still have just as much Fun roleplaying solo. The best part about not being in a Group, is the Freedom. There are no restrictions due to the fact you have no Superiors when In Character. To date, I have roleplayed as every type of Gangster, but never once joined an actual Group or Clan.

The reason alot of Players are more concerned on Money Making is because with Money comes the whole Rise to Power thing, the Cars, the Weapons, the Safehouse, the Bitches etc. Also alot of New Players lack the ability to roleplay, some not all. If we had a In Game roleplaying Guide for New Players this might help them understand the concept of an RPG Server. Example, when I first came to Argonath, a friendly Balla was more then happy to show me the ropes and how the Server worked. Players are not familiar with the Server at all upon first entering which can cause alot of confusion to as what there supposed to do.

And as for Money in General, you gotta spend it to make it!

Argonath is not about making Fame and getting Rich, it's about leaving a Story to share with others.
