Hey guys. Just a couple quick suggestions that I know I've thrown out there before, but I figured with SA:MP able to stream Argo Radio in-game directly now, and LU looking to support a possible future plugin for users via the old SA:MP method, it might be a good time for me to bring them back up. They are just simple ideas, but I think overall they might help Argo Radio's stability in terms of access and listeners. The ideas are as follows:
1. With Server Owner permission, of course, I suggest changing Argo Radio's domain over to an Argonath RPG subdomain, likely at
http://radio.argonathrpg.com/, just so you guys don't have to deal with issues regarding URL changes, or upkeep costs all the time, not to mention there would be no more worries about IP or URL changes that would have to be announced to the users since it would always stay the same. I mentioned the idea to Gandalf once in the past briefly, and he didn't seem to object, so maybe it would be worth a try. It would also be easier for users to remember, and would be much easier on Server Devs since they wouldn't ever need to update the information anymore.
2. Have offline streaming. This one is pretty much self-explanatory. Both ShoutCast 1 and ShoutCast 2, (Argo Radio currently using the former), support streaming a playlist when the server has no online DJ's, and can be overridden when a DJ connects. Once the DJ disconnects, it would go straight back to the offline playlist mode automatically. This would attract more users to the radio overall, even if there's no one to play for them. This could possibly bring Argo Radio an immensely larger listener base because of the 24/7 activity.
As I've said before, I'm not trying to suggest anything that will upset with anyone, so if you don't agree, I understand. These ideas are not meant to be personal towards anyone, and the suggestions to solve a few minor issues aren't meant to point them out, just to help the situation further better itself. I hope you guys like the ideas, as I've been wondering about them for a long time, but I understand that people don't always see eye to eye either. Let me know what you think. If further explanation is needed, just let me know.
