Hi!

Time for me to go on an other trip, this time it's not Bulgaria, Gran Canaria, USA or any other place where iv been in past and recenty... Now it's time to visit Egypt and an area called Hurghada!

Why im making this topic is to see if someone have been there or lives in Egypt and has some advise of what i should do or not to do while im there!

I will lift to Egypt on Saturday so i made this topic quite late, but i hope for good responds anyway! :)

Greetings
Pancher

Well yea I'am egpytian I have some little advies for you since I've been there before...

1. If you're planning on buying gifts or anything like that don't buy from people that chase you in the roads.. :P instead find a decent bazar or somthing to buy off your gifts and make sure you don't get scammed :P.
2. In Egypt the defention of queue (Lines) rarely exects and not in most places so just try not to get too mad from that..
3. You must try diving, snorking.
4. Never get too drunk :P.
5. Again IGNORE PEOPLE CHASING YOU TO BUY STUFF OF THEM
6. If you're taking your wife GF etc.. make sure she wears untight covered clothes.. its not that she will be arrested but hmm.. lets say ladys with swimsuit are rare here so people just like looking at em and not always it ends only with looking.
7. If posible pay your bills with L.E (Our currency) Reason: Pancher to Shop owner: Excuse me sir how much is this?
Shop Owner: 7 L.E
Pancher: How much in dollars?
Shop Owner: 7 dollars

P.S 1 dollar is 5-6 L.E

8. AGAIN COMPELTLY IGNORE PEOPLE CHASING YOU TO BUY STUFF OF THEM DON'T EVEN STOP TO LISTEN TO THEM JUST KEEP WALKING AND IGNORE.

Been there twice, enjoy the snorkeling and the water, it's exceptional.
Also as Omar said above; ignore the annoying ass-followers, and find yourself a shop somewhere "hidden". That's where you find good things.

Weather is excellent, and the people overall is friendly. If you have time, visit Luxor, "Nilen" and Kairo for more historical seeings.

Awesome! I went Hurghada in 2006, and it seemed like an up and coming town, lots of construction etc but quite friendly and everything is in walking distance.
Will you be staying in a hotel?

- When I was there, there were toyota minivan taxi's all over the place which cost about 20p  ~(0.20euro)  to get into town.
The normal looking taxi's/ saloons - these are complete rip offs and will charge you 7euro for the same ride, and may also stop off to get cigarettes and try scam you during the ride. Do not trust them.

- As omaraly said above - they are not too shy about staring at women... to put it mildly.
- You can haggle almost all the prices and most places sell the same stuff, so never expect to pay the first price they ask.
- Do not give money to beggar kids... unless you want to see a fight in the street.
- I definitely recommend quad biking in the desert which cost at the time about 20e for the day, including camel ride and tea with some locals. Bring some change as they will expect tips though (we didn't xD)
- For around 120euro you can get day trip to Cairo by plane including the museum, market etc... well worth it!

Can't think of any more stuff, but when me and Warren went - it was the best holiday of our lives. We were in a 5* hotel though but in general it was a great place.

Yea now Jcstodds reminded me, If you're going from hotel to town most hotels have a shuttle bus which is usually cheaper than those taxies.

Yeah, me and Haldir started to play volleyball, next thing we know the 1930's Russian mens volleyball team appears wearing g strings  :(
Then get angry at us because we start to kick the ball.

There are no pyramids in Hurghada,  but they are included on the Cairo trip I said earlier. You get policemen on camels holding batons, chasing other men on camels who try to get in your photos to charge  you money.

I didn't go inside the pyramids - I heard it is just a very hot dark cave.
