Victoria II

Victoria II is a grand strategy wargame by Paradox Interactive, sequel to 2003's Victoria.
Like its predecessor, Victoria II allows for the player to take control of and manage a 19th century nation-state including its political, diplomatic, economic, military, and technological aspects.

So. Here goes nothing. For this game after some 5 minute thinking of which country to pick I made a decision and picked

Geographical situation of Argentina in 1836

So here we stand, chile to the west, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil to the North and Uruguay to the east also United Kingdom is present with all its might on the Falkland island.
Now what would be the goal to set? I think conquering the whole South America would be quite good goal to reach to. Make the whole continent speak Spanish and yes that means also all those pesky Brazilians. Also when I still got time and the power it would also be great to try and push on also to Central America and why not even Mexico. All the children of Spain shall be united under one flag- Argentinian flag!.

So lets, get started. First 10 years:

Geographical situation of Argentina in 1845

So first thing in 1836 what I had in mind was that I have to get control of the whole southern part of South America, and there was only one other country contesting for those territories, and that was Chile.

I was in luck as on the road I got two allies!

So the war was fully on. With Argentina, Peru and Paraguay vs Chile. It seemed like a walk in the park, it actually proved to be even simpler, as the Chile troops swallowed my baits by crushing my little forces, while other troops were occupying its land:

but it didn't help it to prevent the end result. Argentina got two of the chile regions.

Soon after the successful war with Chile Argentina had a incident with Bolivia:

This had to go not unpunished and Peru agreed with me. So on October 24 1839

And after 2 years of war they gave in

Other news on the South America was, that between the wars of Chile and Bolivia Brazil wasn't inactive either as it had 2 wars. One against Paraguay and another one against Bolivia.

And we do not try to be real life, as why would you ever play real life if you have one ? We play the GTA universe, and our players should try to live in the GTA world, not the real one.

1845 - 1856

When I started at 1845 the country had expanded a lot. The population grew from only 237 000 adult men in 1836 to 375 000 adult men in 1845. Although the country had more men economically it was pretty much disaster. All the classes of the society were highly taxed, military under fed and country itself without any reserves. It was sure that something had to be done.
President did try to encourage more people to become factory workers, but that didnt help and it seemed that it wasnt going to end well at all. only upside was that in times the world had forgotten the war crimes against Chile 10 years ago. But Argentina didn't and it seemed a perfect time to expand the country. And so it was in 1850 another war broke loose.

And even though our great empire lost 2 battles out of 3. The last battle was the one that count and annihilated the whole chile army. After which the poor country did not have any options to surrender and accept annexation.

Now what annexing chile did was that I got hold of its gold mines! As well was its economy built up top-notch. So that did wonders for my own economy. First time I could finally lower taxes to more reasonable levels as well feed my soldiers and make profit. Now what is left to do for right now is to start thinking about expanding again.

Geographical situation of Argentina in 1856

Beside myself there was 2 wars worth mentioning here. First one was 2nd war of Brazil against Bolivia which shows that my greatest threat on the continent is not sitting on his ass either and it even seems that he is trying to block me out so I couldn't expand North. Another one was that Ecuador with its dumb mind tried to take on both Peru and Colombia and end up getting beaten itself and losing territories to Colombia.

You're gonna mess with the United States' money, and they will hand you an ass whoopin' defined by the Roosevelt Corollary.
Well yeah maybe as USA is always fighting with Mexico right now over Texas. So by the time I get there, who knows whats the situation.

Good game is good game, I'm sometimes playing Europa Universalis 3, next one will be either HoI 3 or Victoria 2, not sure yet, but really good game.

Theres already EU 3 topic in Argonath somewhere, with my AAR.

JUBIN YOU'RE MY HERO

I'm so addicted to this game. I'm playing Argentina too, although I think I have way more than a reason than you to play the country. :D

I'm playing with the Pop Demand Mod that adds a couple historical decisions and what not for nations. This was my first serious game after grasping the concepts of Victoria, and I think I did nicely.

1856 - 1885

This era of the history of the Argentinian people will be remembered as the waiting period. So what was going on during this 30 year period.

The first incident was in 1861, when Brazil arrested another our citizen and even though the might of our people had grew tremendously over the past years, we still would not be able to take Brazil on our own and on the down side the enemy was also allied with the French so it would have been a suicide:

Nevertheless one war was still to come. As we left the 1856 it was clear that Brazil was trying to block us to expand further into North, but I was just not going to let that happen. That meant that what was left of Bolivia had to be united under Argentinian flag.

And so it was that in 1867 war started. this time it was quick and almost painless for both of the countries, except for the men who died in battle of course. The war was over in 1868.

Nine years passed, but then it was time for another conflict. This time the victim was former ally Peru, who betrayed Argentina in a war against the Chile annexation. So in 1877 it began. With Argentinian troops tactically again sacrificing themselves for the greater good - for the Empire!!!

And the war ended with another glorious out maneuvering and the end result of acquiring some land from Peru ( which used to be Bolivian).

Kinda hard to play Vicki as Estonia. When it comes to EU, Vicki or HOI I usually love to play everything else but superpowers.

Sounds like an interesting game, I might get it.

Good game but many better games of the same genre on steam for much cheaper. If this game was a lower price I think it would do much better.
