Hi guys, was just wondering whether I should get the new AMD FX-4100 Bulldozer or a bit older Phenom II X4 955/965 BE? I would mainly be using it for gaming+video editing.
Also planning on getting 4-8GB RAM and recently bought a HD6850 OC, so give me your opinions please. They are about the same price so I'm not sure which one should I get

I was looking into building a gaming PC with AMD as it was cheaper.... but eventually got an i5 (its worth it).

Anyway, when I looked into it the bulldozer was laughed at a bit and is not as powerful as the Phenom versions. You get what you pay for essentially, so pay the bit extra and go for Phenom.

Forgot to say, I will be overclocking and I heard the Phenom clocks easier than the FX-4100, true?

Windows does not know how to use Bulldozers new architecture also Bulldozer is designed for programs that use a lot of threads/cores

Phenoms/Athlons aren't produced anymore so finding  a 955/965 BE will be hard

Since your going to be video editing go with the FX 6100 also make sure your mobo is socket AM3+ and the Chipset is 990FX also make sure you have the latest bios!

Nope, The FX series are way easier to overclock and the clock higher aswell

Ok, do you think Antec Kuhler H2O 620 would be good for it considering the overclocking?

If you're paying 50 quid for a colling system, I should hope it's absolutely brilliant.

I personally go for air cooling as it does not leak

If your not doing a custom waterblock/loop then go with an air setup

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO will get the job done and probably better then that water cooler, as the D14 beats the Corsair H100
