Introduction

Mara Salvatrucha or also known as MS were a large gang formed by El Salvadorian refuges who immigrated to America after the El Salvador civil war in the 1980s, they are mostly formed by Salvadorans, Hondurans and other Central Americans. The gang are commonly abbreviated MS, Mara, MS-13. The '13' was added to show respect to the California prison gang, the Mexican Mafia. Mara Salvatrucha gangs have cliques, or factions, located throughout the US and Latin America. Apparently there is total over 100,000 members worldwide, Mara Salvatrucha criminal activities include drug smuggling and sales, black market gun sales, human trafficking, assassinations for hire, theft, and assaults on mlaw enforcement officals and more.

The first large batch of El Salvadorian refuges went to a area of LA which was already plagued with gangs and crime, this influx of immigrants looking for low cost housing and employment was not welcomed nicely by the Mexican-American population who were already residing in that area. The immigrated Salvadorian youth and young adults were victimized by the local gangs. The Salvadorian immigrants eventually created a new gang calling themselves 'Mara Salvatrucha' also known as MS-13 etc. It is belived they got their name from putting together the name of 'La Mara' a violent street gang where they come from, El Salvador, with Salvatruchas, a term used to denote members of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front. Who were a group of Salvadorian peasents trained as guerilla fighters.

Members of the newly formed gang, MS-13 soon engaged in alot of violent criminal acts. They were quickly known as one of the most violest gangs in the area..

History

MS originated in LA, California. There is arguements about the exact etymology, the most common theory is that the word 'Mara' refers to the Spanish word for 'Army Ant', and 'Salvatrucha', which is spanish slag for 'Salvadoran'. The gang was set up in LA in 1972 by Salvadoran immigrants in the Pico-Union section.

Their main purpose to form the gang was to protect them from the other, more established and powerfull gangs of LA. The gang originally only allowed Salvadorans to join, but then later allowed other Hispanics and now all nationalities to join.

  Always use a mexican skin! this is to make it more realistic, eg: The tattoos and the skin colour, ect.
  Try and act like your in a gang, and not how you would in real life. Example, bad: sfe m8 wagwan. good: Eh' bitch suck on my 44.
