Swedish telecom operators want to implement technologies that will block mobile phone users in Sweden from making free calls using services like Skype and Viber, according to The Local.

A spokesperson for Swedish telecom service provider Telia said: "I believe, quite simply, that we need to be able to get paid for our various services, no matter what, as different service plans include different things".

Atleast this won't happend in denmark, as that would casue a out-cry without dimensions... plus our providers got no intention in blocking it.

The /ad was created in order to give players a possibility to advertise.
As a result advertising in main chat is not permitted.

My opinion: what they think they're? If they can't keep customers its their problem, thats the point of economic system sweden is, competing on market, best one wins.

Exactly. That's why a company called Mobilanza (or something similar) set up pre-made prices for infinite amount of calls/SMS for a quite small amount. You can also pick any phone you'd like for the same price. I really doubt this going through.

Thats like an CD shop requesting Youtube to be locked, because theres also there music available.... bull...
can't make cash? might think about the oppurtinities where money can be made, instead of closing it down.

Well, anyway they have no authority to block up all the communications softwares.... It's making money too, and people live with this money and it's really unfair to do something so unconscionable as it.

It won't be a walk in the park to get these communication softwares blocked.. They probably even won't succeed in it, still they should find another way then just trying to close down the communication programs..

If they see people buying more and more over the internet, they should be the onces going to work over the internet aswell..

"However, Swedish companies looking to ensure users don't forego paid mobile phone calls in favour of VoIP services, may find their plans scuttled by the European Commission, which is considering banning telecom companies from blocking services like Skype and Viber."
Go European Commission!

If Telia succeeds with this in Sweden, they may try the same in other countries, and they operate in (or at least partially own companies operating in) a lot of countries

Well, i'm not surprised.. Since after all, it is sweden we are talking about.. The government is already known to rob their people on as much as possible of their money.

Well I got my Telia as my phone provider and Internet provider, the only times I am using Skype is on the computer sometimes with friends, not so much. I am not using it on my iPhone at all.

But it's kinda suck if they will block the service, and I will loose all my respect for Telia.
