There -is- famine in North Korea. They have been getting food aid from the UN for years. Although they have been denying getting any sort of help, the tell tale signs are there i.e. Clear UN branded machinery and relief packages.

Not really. They are forced to believe in him or they are jailed/killed. They are starving to death because he wants to isolate his country from the world. It doesn't take a political genius to realize that he is not doing much to fix this. I agree that if the rockets were for scientific purposes, that they have all the right to fire them, but getting into a political debate about what part of the world is better is not only unrelated, but it's not allowed. Stop bashing on other countries. This is a news forum, not a politics one.

They are comfortable as they are.Man doesn't need much to be happy,its not all in the money,they look whats better for the nation not the individual and that's what makes them so big.
I mean don't get me wrong they don't got the best treatment but all that is because of the sanctions,that were set upon them my the west,so now it  can look like they are actually helping them by sending them couple of package,first aid etc. and they put them  there in first place.

And for the Jubal 100 time dont trust everything what you see on TV

It was a very rough translation, but from the looks of it, it seems like he's saying that not only does North Korea possess nuclear weapons, that he's also glad other countries have been striving for unification and prosperity. It sounds like he wants North Korea to be just as powerful and safe as any other country, while still keeping peace with everyone else.

I know two people who travelled there. It is indeed a very poor nation and most of the country is starving.

If you look at sattelite pictures of the Korean peninsula during the night, you will see plenty of lights in the South compared to the North, a clear sign the North's cities lack the resources present in the South.

Those Earth Hour jokes aren't for nothing.

In all seriousness, North Korea may be free from certain problems brought about by the decadence of Western culture, but living in a Totalitarian state where you are not even allowed to go South is not doing much better for them, much less spending money on a failed rocket launch when they could use it to actually increase the quality of their life.

True, both NoKor's system and the West's system may dominate the people living under them. The difference though is that people have more options than those who would be sent to state prison (and probably executed) if they so much as spoke out against their dictator.
