My laptop is Lenovo, and for some reason when I plug it in to charge, it does not charge. It just shows "Plugged in, not charging".

Any solutions?

Try the steps found within this link. It is either that or looking at replacing the battery as it may be on it's last legs.

Had same problem, needed to adjust the charger alot, It only happened when I was using a replacement charger, There can be 3 problems.

1. The charger is broken, get a new original one.
2. The battery is done, get a new original one.
3. The charging socket is loose, get it fixed.

I tried those four steps that were on the link, even though I am not running windows vista, as there it stated this is a solution for vista. But when I did all the steps it seemed everything went fine, but I still have the problem.

I doubt there is anything wrong with the charger, since if there was it would not even keep the laptop running.

I also read on that link that if they battery is one year old, it's time to change it. Mine is indeed one year old, so I guess it is time to change the battery. Anybody know the price on one of them?

If there are any other solutions and things I can try, please state them so I don't go and buy the battery and still have the same problem. Also, is it better to keep the current battery out of the laptop as it could cause damage?

An electrics shop or student could test the battery to see if its broken or still has capacity to charge.
Check the connection of the batter to see if it si dirty or loose.

Your adapter works, else you would not get ' plugged in'.
Problem is either the battery, or the connection in case you have removed the battery regularly.

I had the exact same problem not more than a month ago, The problem was with charger, believe it or not. The only way to find out whats wrong is to test, take your laptop to the hardware store and test with a different charger and battery. Luckily mine was under warranty so I got the charger replaced for free.

I haven't removed the battery at all. Seems I need to buy a new one.

Antonio try to put the charger in your laptop and work on the laptop.
If your laptop didn't turned off (cause the battery isn't charged) so it's good it's not the charger problem, if not so it's your charger problem - buy new one or fix it like what I did when I got this problem ;)

Try to do the same and see if the battery loads slowly. If it is loaded and suddenly discharges there is some shortcircuit in either the charger or the battery.

The easiest way to cut the head ache would be.

Go to a showroom where they have laptops on display, preferably the place you bought it from, Ask them to put a different charger on it. If it charges perfectly, the problem is with your charger. If it doesn't the problem is either with the battery or the charging point. I did the same and It cuts lots of time.
