Let me make something clear.
Anonymous is a "category" now.
Many hacking groups(most skids, but some mean business) have emerged with the name "anonymous". The groups however do have a "bond".
The internet freedom, occupy e.t.c WERE organised by this "inside group" which is a set of highly trusted anonymous groups, all working together sharing vulnerablities and such.
If you see quality videos and lots of people hopping in, theres a good chance its supported by the "inside" group, and yes they do work organised on that level. They organise everything, on another forum a now-arrested anonymous member did tell all this, and was arrested shortly after(His job was to gain public awareness, according to him).
So yeah, anonymous works ahead of time, they plan, they organise, they do.
Their main method of attack is via PDDOS(public DDOS). in this they dont infect people with botnets, but allow them to join voluntarily using system vulnerablities.
For example when you go to some of the websites of anonymous, they automatically "borrow" your bandwidth for a attack till you leave the site, they even have a software that you can download for it!(I wont name it, obvious reasons so please dont ask me to..)
Other than that, anonymous is SERIOUS about internet piracy, hell it may even trade in software vulnerablities to big time corpotartions, just to get them on the private side.
