Though, if you take it a non-joke way, sure its offensive, especially if your grandparents aren't alive anymore.

My grandparents aren't alive either, and that doesn't mean I'll take it offensively. Cmon, it's just a joke, and it's directed to nobody. If you didn't find it funny, that's your problem. If every joke was supposed to be funny to everyone, no one would tell jokes.
