If it's so terrible why would you even bother downloading it illegally off the internet?
It's a system called "Trying before buying". I use it quite a bit since it's the only fail-proof way to know if the product I'm getting is good. If it's not, it gets uninstalled. I don't see what's so hard to grasp about this concept. And no, don't compare this to candy bars since it's unrelated. We're talking about digital files.

Its time to grow up guys and stop spreading shit daily.

Downloading music because it ''sucks'' is just like stealing a candy bar from the store because it tastes like shit. So if it sucks, you suddenly get the right to get it for free while others are paying for it?
Piracy should be stopped because it's unfair and illegal, but nice attempt.
stealing ≠ sharing

BE.

BE? You mean BT?  :trust:

If so, they are still required to block it.

Nina Paley's "Copying is not theft" - arrangement by Willbe

People who think copying things =/= stealing are just too stupid to look at the bigger picture and would rather use the "hur dur look at me im taking everything literally" approach instead of actually understanding how the law and business works.

The whole concept of "Pirates are thieves and are literally hurting and bringing the music industry down through their free downloads" is bullshit propaganda invented by corporations to secure their profits. Obviously, you have been brought to believe this propaganda.

In fact it is doing the opposite; artists gain even more exposure when their songs are downloaded everywhere, along with the legitimate profits they continue to earn. Forcing payment on everything is what will hurt the music industry, not "piracy" or free downloading.

Imagine two stores distributing their own parfaits, parfaits of roughly the same quality, with one selling it for a price and the other giving them out for free. Expect the store with the free parfaits to get more customers, along with more of the community getting exposed to parfaits, and some even going to the other store which actually sells them. Likewise, the success of the "pirate industry" (with the attached exposure to the "legitimate goods") is built on the principle of 'if the customers like your supermarket, they will frequent it more than the other'.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

I'm against piracy because its a blatant disregard for the law, not so much because it "Hurt" the media industry. You break the law, you deserve to be punished for it. If you live in a democracy, you have the power for change and if you feel its an un-just law then you have all the power to fight for it to be changed. it will never be changed because it is morally wrong to steal.

Your example only fits major distributors and does not relate at all to independent artists, nor is it backed up by any proven statistics.

Oh I see, never heard of BE before. If they are owned by O2 they will probably block it to when O2 does, which is before the 13th.

For the people who think that corportations don't do this purely for more profit... Why would they block Pirate Bay? Moral reasons? I don't think so. What artists make and it should not be copied and used because it's just "bad"? I don't think so. What pirating is is not STEALING.. STEALING is taking something and not giving it back! People download from torrent sites to COPY and USE the torrent. They don't take the MOVIE and don't give it back.. In fact they share it with other downloaders, they COPY and DIVIDE. It's ANARCHISTIC and HUMAN behavious! They take what they need to survive and give it to someone else, as a community. The internet is a COMMUNITY of anarchistic and anonimous members who interact with each other, direct and indirect, share INFORMATION. We download a movie, which was peered by another member of the internet and we don't even know who it is!!

Corporations are just trying to spread their influence on this community... It's being "civilized".

If what torrent peers do is piracy, then you can say Jesus was engaging in piracy too when he broke a bunch of loaves into five thousand. :devroll:

What the corporations are labeling as piracy is not actual piracy, as the "pirates" are sharing their bounty with the rest of the world rather than keeping it to themselves, as actual pirates do.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

Last week the UK High Court ruled that several of the country's leading ISPs must block subscriber access to The Pirate Bay. The decision is designed to limit traffic to the world's leading BitTorrent site but in the short-term it had the opposite effect.

Yesterday, The Pirate Bay had 12 million more visitors than it has ever had, providing a golden opportunity to educate users on how to circumvent blocks. "We should write a thank you letter to the BPI," a site insider told TorrentFreak.

I usually buy games that deserves the money even if I already have them. For example Arma 2 Combined Operations, I tried it, liked it and bought it. Battlefield 3, tried it, liked it bought it. But if they want me to buy every freaking game , well sirs go buy some lube and drop your soap in the prison
