After he became famous on Youtube, Edvard Khil who was already retired a long time was asked to come back and again make performances. Apart from the money (which is very good in Russia for such artists) he would see it as a chance to promote his grandson, who seems to have inherited a good voice.
Unfortunately the pressure of the life as performer proved more than he could handle on his age.
While Trololo is most famous in the West, Edvard Khil was a famous singer of many songs, and his voice was great for both modern and classical music. On top of that he was/is a great man with a sense of humour and not afraid to speak his mind, even in communist times when it could be considered bad for your career.
If he survives I hope he will be well enough to enjoy the rest of his life with some quality. If not, the world has lost another great performer who managed to survive himself in many ways.
