So I upgraded my PC's other stuff than it's components (meaning monitor and a mousepad(lol) and a headset.

Now my problem is, whenever I try to run GTA VC, it'll open normally then before showing Rockstars logo it goes down to taskbar. If I click the GTA VC icon in the taskbar it quickly shows the Rockstars logo and goes back down. I've tried removing gta_vc.set, tried different compability settings and nothing seems to help (even tried to rapeclick the GTA VC so it opens but with no result). Also I searched google for good 2 hours to solve this problem with no results again :(

Specs on the upgraded PC: (it ran fine with no new shizzlenuts)

Acer V203H -> Acer G245H monitor (resolution from 1600x900 to 1920x1080)
Creative Fatal1ty headset to Steelseries Siberia V2
Mouse pad from table to Razer Sphex.

Any of you people know the solution?  :hit:

It's the monitor which does not support it, I mean, how can a mousepad affect the mouse :( ? ( try takin out headset wires/wi-fi USB port and see if it happens again). Do you still have the old monitor? Try and reuse the old monitor, if it's not for the monitor ( but I am sure it is ) try the 'downgrade' method, so, if you still have old-ye components, put them back. What can I advice you? Set windows to run at 1920x1080, delete whole GTA-VC Files stored in Documents, if the problem persists, try reinstalling GTA-VC or VCMP or both.

Is it a 64bit? That causes most of the time the problem.

Install your monitor and video card's latest drivers, and try again.

Done, no halp.

Win 7 64-bit, worked before just fine.

I have the old, so testing it right now. Will post the result later.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Have you checked the Device Manager in Windows for any conflicts that could be leading to this problem? Also, make sure GTA is set to a 32-Bit resolution that your monitor states it can support, if you haven't already.

The resolution that I try to open GTA VC is 1600x900x32 so it's not really a problem for this monitor (both 16:9 monitors that support 1600x900 resolution)

There are no conflicts within my PC at the moment.

Tried all of it, no help. VC works fine with old monitor, but not at all with new one. If I have duplicated screen, it won't work. Testing with VGA + HDMI wires atm to see if it gives any better results.

Neither VGA or HDMI input work with new monitor. Problem is in the new monitor for sure

>I could do a dual-monitor set up tho' once I get new desktop (which can be very soon) :D

Strange... for some games it's happened to me (on W7), but I can normally click back onto game icon and play normally.

A few things to try that could work:

- Disable any auto-updating going on (in background or otherwise) during game, just in general to see if there's any impact.

- Check your antivirus. I've heard that software such as Norton can minimise windows for apparently no reason, or interfere in the running of other programs.

There are also some third-party software out there that could help, an example being TweakUI, though I'm not really sure how reliable they are... and being third-party, should be used with caution.

My PC don't have auto-updates and if they do it's set to work at night so... :(

Antivirus should not block GTA VC since it worked fine before changing the monitor

This is really odd...are you sure there are no conflicts in the Device Manager when your new monitor is plugged in? Make sure you have the latest drivers available for it online too, as opposed to the "Plug-N-Play" or CD-based ones.

I'm curious..., try a lower resolution in GTA:VC that your monitor and video card still support, like 1024x768x32, and see if it runs correctly.

No conflict, monitor's drivers are installed (to avoid any kind of bug that win7's own may make), I tried every resolution possible (even 16 bit resolutions).

I'll try to google up once more, but it's getting to the point where I need to go for dual-monitor set up so I can play GTA VC  :(

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I disabled VIA Audio stereos and microphone. Seems like it was an conflict with my new headset's own drivers, but Windows didn't recognize it as one since they were working in the background.

Thanks to all for the help :)

...Now I wonder why it didn't have that conflict with the old monitor, but only the new one.. o.O

It's funny because Kessu is suppose to be a PC nerd, yet he had to ask others for advice. :D

If your monitor has built-in speakers, or ports for such, (which some do and some don't), that could be where the conflict arose.
