Yet again, spent another 1 hour in LSPD, investigating and being a nerd ;p .

I wonder why we have only bureaucrats playing here.
Go to LSPD and stand behind the desk, greet anyone who comes in and do the job....

It's good RP!  :devroll:

No desk staff. No desk staff. No desk staff.
Got the problem?

Maybe late to reply to this, but I've found a post of myself that may be helpfull to many officers out there.

Los Santos Police Department Desk Staff

Dear officers, Cadets and all the others that read my post,

Since a few weeks i opened up the LSPD desk for information, investigations, police dispatch and control headquarter.
It's a very interesting and busy thing to do, yet not much people have the attention of going to work at the desk, since it causes less action then being out there, on the field, yet the desk is an interesting and apart experience which only gives good credit to all officers and the working of SAPD.

Tasks of the desk staff:

  • Operating the information desk
  • Controlling the dispatch radio
  • Investigation of criminals
  • maintaining the stock of donuts inside the department.
  • maintaining order in the LSPD compound garage.

Operating the information desk:
- Many citizens visit the police department everyday. Most likely they will have a specific question, which needs a specific answer. As you are operating the information desk, it is your task to assure these citizens get their answer, document or anything else they ask you.
The information desk is also the spot where abused criminals can report theirselves in for an investigation.

Controlling the dispatch radio:
- The dispatch control room is located next of the main desk, it is a small room that also has a window that views on the main lobby of the police dept. As dispatch controller, you can help the police officers to locate the suspect, updating locations, updating of the situation of a crime, or simply dispatch units to a location coming in trough 911..
When you are controlling the dispatch, you can mark yourself as dispatch in the police radio (/r) as [DISPATCH].

Example:

Police Radio: [DISPATCH] All LSPD units, please be advised of a 10-66 in the area of Idlewood., over

When another department dispatch loggs on, it is advised to use regional tags to seperate all dispatchers from each other.

Example:

Police Radio: [LSDISPATCH] All LSPD units, please be advised of a 10-66 in the area of Red County. If the suspect continues his way to San Fierro, please report to SFDISPATCH, over.

Investigation of criminals
- Once a suspect turns himself in at the LSPD information desk, you can investigate the suspect in a investigation room. This greatly adds more perspective of the crime itself, since desk staff has no interferance with the crime itself and can thereby judge from a neutral opinion.
If the investigation goes in a bad way, or the suspect doesn't agree with his punishment, a court case can be made in name of the LSPD desk staff to investigate via the court of law.

Maintaining the stock of donuts
- All officers need their donuts. The desk staff must ride everyday to Rusty Brown's to assure the donut stock doesn't run out.

maintaining order in the LSPD compound garage.
- The compound can be a little messy sometimes, as desk staff you can organise the compound, make sure all PD vehicles are ready to depart, filled up and free of damage. Also keep an eye on the police gate, that it doesn't get left open neither.

If you'd like to join the desk staff, don't hesistate to give it a try. You do not have to apply or anything, the only thing i'd like to point out with this topic is that being behind the desk doesn't neccesarily means 'boring'. There is alot of fun to be discovered inside the department itself.
Dispatches are mostly appreciated and are never done with their work. There is always a tread which can be updated from the department itself.

I hope to see more desk staff in the nearest future,

Ryan Caltson
- SAPD cadet

Soo.. Concretely..
Will there be Desk Staff? Or will they be replaced by scripts?
No scripts are needed for this, at all. All possibilities are there already, no need for a robot handling you, a person will do better.

I think a good idea is making such script such as /rules where ARPD officers will read the rules and some regulations on duty.

It's dead, whether you like it or not.

We need some REALLY BIG CHANGES.

As whatever we will try to send upon a new player, a real player teaching him our system will give the best results, since new players want to play and not read rules, even though they do form an important part of the community.

However... This could be easily worked out if people made the new member aware about what he just did isn't really good to do or entirely disallowed, instead of going 'OMFG NOOB NEW PLAYER STOLE MY BIKE".

If he doesn't learn, you can still report that person to the administration.
