Okay, so I installed GTA VC on my laptop again, but I have some problems that I've never had before. For example, sometimes, if I turn to north, my game runs fine, but when I turn to south my game starts lagging like crazy and it becomes unplayable (ex. when I'm driving past the 24/7 mart or I'm inside it itself). I've never experienced these problems before as I've played for over 6 months on my laptop. I've got a HP laptop, Intel(R), Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80 GHz with 512 MB of RAM and a MOBILITY M6 ATI Radeon video card. And before you ask, yes the game's an original, not downloaded. Any help appreciated..

The laptop is rather weak, but the VC should run just fine,

Try re-installing, and I don't recomend installing mods unless you want more lag.

To be honest, I had about the same laptop as you had [a weaker procsser tho'], and I also had some lags, FPS was usually 15-25.
So if thats the case, I don't think theres a Solution.

You could try shutting down all the unnecessary programs on the background (I mean everything, MSN, xfire, torrent, browsers...) and put VC's graphics to their lowest (reso like 800x600x32) (640x480 looks so bad compared to 800x600)

Also put "Draw distance" to it's minimum and so on.. Then have a try ^^

Also there exists some programs that help you shutting down all those unnecessary programs, but I do not recall any of them (I haven't have need for them in like 5 years) :/

Tried it all, didn't help. I even downloaded GameBooster, a well known gaming device that raises fps, didn't help either...

Try running CCleaner (cleans your trash + cookies 'n all) and then fixes the problems in your window's register. Might help alot if never done before ^^

The worst thing is that I ran it several times before and it didn't help. :(

Re-install Windows with the backup CDs/DVDs and then install GTA VC to see if it still lags. If so, you'd need new PC :(

I had the same problem in my old laptop Lance, I also tried everything and nothing helped. You just need some patience to it and you'll do fine! :) How did I played GTA VC on my Mini-Laggish-Laptop for over 1 year? It ain't too hard.

Reinstalling Windows wouldn't solve his issue.

Upgrade your video and other drivers, and make sure your computer is up-to-date. Often, people do not realize that outdated or bad driver releases may have bugs or may be unoptimized, even for just older games.

If the problem is within his hardware, then reinstalling windows can certainly pinpoint where the fault is.

Also when reinstalling windows, you HAVE TO install completely new drivers, and no older drivers are on the PC to mess it up (no, neither nvidia or amd drivers actually remove the old ones)

Reinstalling Windows would not pinpoint a hardware issue. He would only get the same results if he did that. This is an issue relating to processing of data and graphics because it is not consistent.

Ohhh reaaaallllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

You do realise that Windows is the fault here with highest probability (not saying even that is high, but highest of all of them). Installing drivers again may fuck it up even more, due to older ones staying there. You'd need a whole different program to sweep out the old drivers (window's control panel removal does not remove them, nor does the driver installing program).

If Window's register is fucked up, in a one big mess, no performance boost can fix it. It would ALWAYS lag. Also HDD being too full may slow it down, making the data processing slower. With that low amount of RAM, it would be recommended to reboot your system every now and then to refresh the RAM.

If you, SugarD, can give out better advise, go ahead.

Yep, when I tried removing my driver, my Windows got all fucked up, so that's out of the question...
