Well the problem is, how do you define trusted players? That is based on opinion...and basing it on rank wouldn't change it much.

That would also create an unfair advantage for those able to vote versus those who cannot, and on top of that, it would make it just so the awards are possible, rather than people getting to have fun doing it.

Then it's not based on the community anymore, which defeats the whole purpose. The awards are meant for fun, not for just getting something on your profile.

That wouldn't resolve the issue, though. It was regular players that ruined the past awards, so restricting new people not only goes against the Vision, but doesn't solve the problem at all.

This is honestly unavoidable. There are some other options that can reduce this, such as having a committee to review peoples votes and reasons; So for every vote you have to provide a lengthy reasons as to why you selected that person/group then it'll be judge as if its valid enough, but time will only shine until people get creative.

Its honestly disgraceful that this topic even has to exist, and everyone who took park in the "corruption" should feel ashamed.

Go look at all votes by Gvardia, and all votes by 58th. Literally every single vote by each group is for the other. That is obvious cheating.

Yes, two best groups in that period, most active, most organized, most creative roleplays, and also personal friends, not to mention allies.

Yeah if I can not vote for Gvardia, I'll skip the best roleplaying group together with Gvardia in that period, and vote for Gulucan cause 58th are friends and so people gonna say corruption and cheating.

I was running the last awards that were meant to be done, the 2010 awards, and during the whole thing, FORTY individuals were disqualified for cheating in some way. Just take a moment to consider that number. In addition to this, TWO entire groups were disqualified from the votes for cheating, including Gvardia and 58th Street.

And this was nothing other then your personal witch hunting. DQ a group of 35 active people, cause 3 members wanted to get personal awards, not group awards.

The whole concept of having Oscars and so on is great, the issue comes in when people get over attached to the whole thing, they start getting frantic on winning and acquiring votes.
