codec?

i was recording some vids from vcmp using fraps,
i created a movie of 1:40 (min-seconds) using movie maker
i had my recorded vids in my E Drive and my movie maker file on desktop
i formatted my pc (only the C: drive)
so i lost my movie maker file
but i had the recorded vids
and i dont know y cant they be run?

i use windows media player 11
it aquires some codec then it only runs audio
i imported those vids in movie maker, it gives error of codec not found, download the required codec and restart
the files are .avi and WMP 11 supports them
i could run those files with WMP 11 and movie maker before formatting, dunno wat is happening when i formated it its all messed up since then!

Download DivX player. It is free and usually it solves the problem of Windows Media Player.
Because of the lawsuits Microsoft is not allowed to deliver the codecs with the player. Something about having to allow competition...

I had the problem when i was watching Simpsons and had only sound,...
Then i messed around and then i memorized that i downloaded a codec pack somewhere 2 years ago when i had a format C...

But, Gandalf may be right too...  :devroll:

but i could use those .avi files both in WMP11 and movie maker bfore i formatted my drive

ill try to convert them and use them in movie maker

i reinstalled fraps and everythings work fine now
