Guess I'll be checking it out then... is it a safe uninstall in case I don't like it?

Yes, uninstall is safe. And in case you like it, it's only $5 and half of that ($2.50) if you wait for Stardock to send you e-mail at the end of your 30 day trial!

I didn't read the entire topic, so I'm sorry if I repeat someone else's words, but Windows 8 is indeed a good OS. Seeing all those negative reviews, people hating on it, I really wonder why? The metro interface is great, I can organize my software well, everything else is just improved 'tweaked' windows 7. Better windows explorer and other small tweaks. My comp runs around the same as win7, but the boot time is much shorter. I really recommend trying Win8 out!

Windows 8 to me is a big wink to the mobile platforms OS's. In terms of looks, it does look fancy but I have serious doubts about the workflow. To me personally, it doesn't feel any good when it comes to fast working procedures. Windows 7 remains a real OS, Windows 8 is rather an impression that is aimed on non-professional consumers that spend most of their day on Facebook.

I felt that way at first too because of the way it's presented, however the only real difference I notice visually which stands out is the Start Menu, which can still be changed back to the classic one. Other than that, the changes I've seen seem to actually be more helpful than anything else, and Windows 8 is much more stable and faster than Windows 7 at this point, which is ironic because it has had very few updates released so far.

Exactly, once you get the old start menu it feels like a real OS again, but with the speed and stability of Windows 8, which is really great to be honest. Using it for a month now and still having startup times of 20 seconds from cold boot, which is really nice.

Mine has slowed down a bit because I've installed a ton of junkware that I can't live without, but overall the OS is still incredibly faster than Windows 7 ever was for me.

I fixed that by setting the multicore off and running it as admin. There are more tricks tho.

Well it looks like running it as admin makes it work. But how do you set the multicore off in Win8?

Something I noticed with Win8 is that Google Chrome is slower while Internet Explorer is almost instant  :trust:

Something I noticed with Win8 is that Google Chrome is slower while Internet Explorer is almost instant  :trust:

Code: [Select]
Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\SAMP\samp.cfg
And then:

Code: [Select]
fpslimit=48
multicore=0
audioproxyoff=0
pagesize=20

Setting the multicore to 0 fixed it for me!
