Hello, crook,
Bad news first, the crashing is caused by an illegal/corrupt codec file.
Good news, there is a solution, and what is more, a pretty simple one.
The program you need to download and make use of is called K-Lite Codec Pack.
You can get it from here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htmChoose "9.5.0 FULL" there, download, extract it and follow all the instructions on the screen
brotip:Despite the moviemaker being an easy video editing program, it doesn't offer you very many additional perks. It is also very old and has a 3/10 chance of crashing while importing bigger video files.
I would recommend you a program called
"AVS Video Editor" It is also simple, but it is new and offers you many supplementary things like video animations, precise cropping, and lots of more! 200mb of pure fun, handiness and simplicity.
Regards,
Kemppa
