As for the original question, go for Intel. While it may seem that you get more "cores" for "less money" with AMD, don't be fooled. With laptop
processors it's even worse, when Intel's 2-core CPU beats AMD's 6-core CPU in both performance and cost.  As for desktop processors, see
the bottom link I gave and compare different processors you can find in the shops and decide for yourself what is good and what is not.

I have an Intel i5 2500k Overclocked to 4.5 Ghz and 2 6850's in crossfire slightly overclocked.
AMD+INTEL Ftw!
(CPU Wise errm im sure most people here have answered that but although Intel is more expensive they are better quality.)

Never ever buy a laptop for gaming purposes. It's a waste of cash since GPUs in laptop are MUCH weaker than normal ones.

People saying you want more than 2gb memory on your GPU - that's a lie. 2gb is enough to run 2560x1600 resolution just fine. 1gb is enough (especially if you have shit monitor), 2gb is making it sure (recommended on 1920x1080 and higher resolutions).

Intel is far better than AMD let it be video editing or gaming purposes. As for gaming video card, I'd suggest to look for nvidia, but that's due to my personal experience with AMD's video cards.

Exactly, Laptops love to overheat and kill themselves i have 4 in my wardrobe that have each overheated and died. Where as 2 desktops that are left on 24/7 and still running today.

Wrong. Each CPU is different. Models can even have differing specific specs in them which make one sub-model better than another. Brand has nothing to do with it.

Of course not I explicitly said TOP Intel CPUs, the core i5 and i7 models... Roughly speaking they're just better in every regard. AMD is matching them with the new FX-8xxx processors but they're a very very new model and for the past years nothing got past them.
