Chinese woman bites off son's penis

A crazed Chinese woman allegedly bit off her nine-year-old son's penis in a Buddhist temple in southwestern Sichuan province.
Shanghai Daily reports that the woman, whose name was not given, attacked her son while in a state of delirium on Sunday in Yibin, 180 miles (290 km) southwest of Chongqing.

The boy, identified as a third-grader named Liang Liang, was visiting his mother, who was staying in a Buddhist temple while trying to cure an unspecified mental disorder, when the woman "gnawed his penis" off. Relatives were unable to find the severed organ.

After the bizarre attack, which has been attributed to the mother's madness, doctors spent two hours saving the boy's life.

"The boy needs long-term therapy to treat his mental trauma, more so than physical injury," a doctor is quoted in Shanghai Daily. "When the boy grows up, he will still have sexual needs like a normal man, but the disability will cause him huge pain," the doctor added.

The young victim is now being cared for by his relatives. The woman, who is said to still be in a crazed state, has been hospitalized.

It's been a bad year for penis-biting. In March, a furious father in Shenzhen, China bit off his six-year-old son's penis after the boy refused a request to bite the father's penis. Luckily, doctors were able to reattach the organ.

In May, a Sri Lankan woman bit off her lover's penis during a heated quarrel.

And in July, a Russian rapist bit off more than he could chew when a would-be victim bit off his manhood during an attempted assault in Novosibirsk. To add insult to injury, the rapist's severed penis was kept by police as evidence to use against him in court.

This reminds me of some religious cultures which allow/suggest parents to mutilate sons and (especially) daughters. Unacceptable.

In any case I hope this kid will manage to face life with dignity despite this problem..

Just think about circumcision. There are religions that allow/suggest mutilation on babies. I don't remember which ones exactly (I wish I had my History/Phylosophy teacher with me ) but I guess islamic ones(?).

Not only Islamic, but also over 75% of youth in USA and UK is circumsized.
