I respect that Traser said at a topic about why namechanges aren't allowed and i fully agree with him.But,why don't have an opportunity to request to someone a changename with the Reason: .The case will be clearled for the last like 20-30 posts to see his past.But if they fail with the test and they accept the namechange,Why don't we make a new feature to have under someone's name his old names?I know that the server uses SMF,but we can make modification about that and then install it. I'm not sure yet if this goes to SA:MP Ideas.

As for your idea, I think it's possible. In my opinion, namechanges should only be allowed once, or once in six months.. else people will request namechanges like crazy.

They used to be allowed a few years back but that was changed and made less liberal.
The feature is very much there, inbuilt in SMF. All accounts' display names (what you see, essentially, as forum name) can be changed, although the username (which is the name you used to create account with) remains.

It's understandable if people return after a long time and find that they have a name which is no longer suitable or had references to a team/clan, for instance, which doesn't apply to them anymore. In such cases it would be nice if the option was still around.

Argonath Administration has grown considerably and I am sure there would be time and space to accommodate some kind of a request feature for name changes, possibly? Some limitations to prevent excessive changes could ensure that it's an efficient system.

It already exists. Those with specific rights in SMF can track a user's activity, which lists all changes to their account, including display/usernames.

Great idea, we once had forum name changes, put I guess the admins got to tired changing forum name changes all the time, so they stopped.. Anyway, if we could do it automatic, I'll support it!

Your username is what you are identified by and log in with. It is not a flashy display showcase for you to advertise your latest clan tag in. You have signatures, custom titles, and personal text fields for that. Pick a name that represents you without any group if you don't want to deal with not being able to change it.

It's not a roleplay name, either. It's your account name.

I do understand why some people would like to change their forum name though. Some individuals might rush through the making and then founds out that this is a prodigious place to be at.
But the very best way is simply to do as EliteTerm just said - pick a unique name from the beginning and don't rush through the making of an account. You might be stuck here forever!
