A huge asteroid traveling at 5 miles per second -- eight times the speed of a bullet -- will come within 17,100 miles of Earth's surface today. (CNN) -- Don't consider this a count-down to doomsday, but on February 15 an asteroid is going to come pretty close to Earth.

And this is only one of thousands of objects that are destined to one day enter our neighborhood in space.

"There are lots of asteroids that we're watching that we haven't yet ruled out an Earth impact, but all of them have an impact probability that is very, very low," Don Yeomans, manager of the Near-Earth Object Program Office at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said at a press briefing.

This particular asteroid is called 2012 DA14. NASA scientists reiterated Thursday that people have nothing to worry about.

"No Earth impact is possible," Yeomans said.

After NASA or whichever space administration were incapable of even trace the asteroid that injured 500 civilians, their responses are not that reliable anymore. Atleast in my opinion.

Why would NASA tell Russia anyway? It's owned by the US government. :poke:

Yeh like Americans and British, but all the US ever does is drag it's 'best friend' into shitty wars which cause nothing but loss. :poke:

That was possible during Tchernobyl times, nowadays it's either difficult or obvious, whereas I believe in the last option.

Why would Russia listen to NASA or even request information from them? Answer that, please.

Nobody said Russia would request anything.. I said NASA wouldn't tell Russia anything if they did know, the US v Russia hate still exists, just secretly and not with nuclear missiles.

Why? The context there is of an equal level of failure. :3

Russia has its own space program. How is NASA relevant?
