http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/07/17220065-report-north-korea-threatens-pre-emptive-nuclear-attack?lite

North Korea threatened to exercise its "right to pre-emptive nuclear attack" Thursday as Pyongyang ratcheted up its rhetoric ahead of a United Nations vote on new sanctions.

"Since the United States is about to ignite a nuclear war, we will be exercising our right to pre-emptive nuclear attack against the headquarters of the aggressor in order to protect our supreme interest,'' the North's foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency. NBC News could not immediately confirm the statement. However, the remarks were also reported by media outlets including The Associated Press.

On Wednesday, the South Korean military said it would strike back at North Korea and target its top leadership if Pyongyang attacks.

North Korea continues military drills and exercises in support of a top general's threat to back military action against South Korea and the United States. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.

Tensions have ratcheted higher across the Korean Peninsula since the North, under youthful leader Kim Jong Un who took office just over a year ago after the death of his father, launched a long-range rocket last December.

He followed this with a third nuclear test on February 12, triggering the prospect of more U.N. sanctions that are due to be formally announced on Thursday after the United States and China, the North's one major diplomatic ally, struck a deal to punish Pyongyang.

Jeezuz. This is not going to end well. If both sides don't calm down and back off soon, we're going to see a massive nuclear war that could end everything as we know it...

They would probably rage and shoot you back with a rainbow laser show!

In all seriousness though, this doesn't look good. I'm actually beginning to worry because this could set off some very deadly attacks that could potentially kill millions, if not billions, of people.

I'm surprised that China actually made a deal with the US and not with North Korea.

We're one of China's biggest buyers of their goods. If we fall in a war, they lose a massive amount of income from trade. Being caught in the middle of an active war between a huge trade customer and a close ally is also not a position they want to be put in.

Good point, definitely agree with that

There would not be a huge war at all.. As soon as the Korean Commies launch the rocket, it would most likely be shot down by China or Russia before it even would reach the sky. Afterwards, the whole Korean Peninsula would sink from the response attacks by NATO

This^

However, I'm not sure NATO would respond right away I think that you'd see the immediate response from China and South Korea before any other entity has the time to meet and respond. However, South Korea has a new president so I'm not entirely sure if the response would be as immediate anymore.

Not at all. China and Russia aren't even dragged into this, especially Russia isn't. If a rocket is indeed launched, nothing much can be done.

If North Korea do decide to try anything they are basically signing their own death certificates as NATO will do whatever it can be meet the force and it has a lot more military power behind it than N Korea could even wish for.

I wouldn't judge a book by it's cover. I believe that she has a lot more to show than she may first seem. And Gangnam Style on her side.

I couldn't give less fuck about N. Korea or USA, but these Koreans are really bloodthirsty motherfuckers, not to mention how disgraceful their regime is. I'm a socialist but the way they run their country and ass-lick the dude whose face expression shows what level of retardedness he has reached mind fucks me. I'm sure there must be at least some sane and powerful men to overthrow his pathetic ass and guide the country in a better direction. On the other hand as Rytuklis mentioned even if they'd do it, their rockets wouldn't succeed in anything, and afterwards they'd enjoy themselves being "liberated" by Uncle Sam as many before.

Propaganda is a beautiful thing. Most North Koreans know nothing of the outside world.
