And I couldn't agree more with him. It does sadden me that there are people proud of Brittain's colonial past.
Is world domination something not to be proud of? :trust:
The UK owned the islands before Argentina even existed, how could it possibly be theirs..
The fact that we had an empire is irrelevant, if the people who live on the island want to be British, they can.
Exactly, the people who have lived on the islands all their lives voted to stay and be British, their long-gone relatives were British, so why should anyone think the islands are anything but British? And you can't say the UK just has the islands for oil, as the British government didn't know there was oil there until recently.
I also forgot to say, all those commonwealth nations which were once British, voted for independence and they got it, same would have happend with the Falklands, Argentina's government should just give up this BS and focus on their own problems, such as the education, poverty and financial problems which they have.
Yeah, but there's a difference between being born in a country that used to be an empire like that, and being proud of it or still clinging to it.
How is the UK clinging to anything? It's the islanders who voted to stay British, sure we want them to stay British as losing the islands to the Argie's after all thats happend would just be an insult to all those British soldiers who lost their lives fighting for them, if anything not having the islands anymore would leave the UK better of, all them defence costs, not to mention the problems regarding keeping the islands shops stocked after South America denied British ships access to their coastlines not long ago, wether thats all over with or not I don't know, but it all costs alot.
