If you ask me, they're only dialects. I have a hard time understanding an Albanian from western Macedonia (bordering Albania), even though it's Albanian. Slovenian, Serbian etc. are differed by higher or lower vowels.

Worth to mention that I can speak Swedish, Danish fluently, but with a very bad, Norwegian dialect.
I can also speak partly German and Spanish.

An easy conversation on Slovenian/Serbo-Croatian is also something I am able to have.
